What annoys me a bit, (and i'll admit this didn't happen a lot last night, but just in general) the opposistion key foward just decides to take off and lead and they take the mark with Fletcher/Michael 2-3 metres behind them. Not overally concerned about this, if they have the pace and the pass is just too good. However, Lloyd's game last night, everytime he took off to lead, Hudgeton kept up with him every inch of and even got infront of him a few times last night. This has been happening all year, and a bit last year too. Lloyd isn't the slowest going around. Why can't he get an inch off his man to take a mark on the lead? He had one set shot last night, and it was from a free kick from a tackle. How many key fowards do you see do that?
Now i don't want this to seem like a dig at Lloyd. On the contrary actually, he works much harder for his goals, because he either has to take a pack/contested mark, or he gets them through general play. So a 4 goal haul for him is a game that he has worked hard in to earn those 4 goals. I'd just love to see the old quick Lloyd who used to just leave key defenders in his wake and kick bags of 7 and 8 regularly. After all that, he's a superstar and i'm sure he'll bounce back. Hopefully Presti gets a game and plays on lloyd, that always helps;)

In: Myers and Neagle (If Fit)
Out: Slattery and ??

Couple of players who could fill that ??
Laycock is really testing the patience of some of us, i'd be very tempted to have Ryder and Hille as ruckman, still got Fletcher and Mal down back and not play Laycock because it's just not working atm. Having said that, i think he'll stay.

Laycock has been ok in the ruck its as a forward where he is not having an impact. We need to go back to the original plan and bring in someone to play Lucas' role and take the 2nd or 3rd best defender each week. NLM would also benefit.

re lloyd you've nailed this. i can't recall one occasion when get the break on hudghton. there was a lot of criticism of kicks falling short to him but on multiple occasions i thought the kick was well weighted for a normal lloyd but he was too slow getting on the end of it...his calf may have hindered him here so hopefully he'll be a bit quicker next friday. against kangaroos he led and marked well so here's hoping with an extra week of training under his belt his speed on the lead can improve.

re ryder - it would be good to try him in the ruck but don't think we can afford to do that as ryder is probably our no.1 stopper now due to mal michael and fletcher slowing with age.

thanks. was just wanting to know where our ruck stocks lay at outside of hille. is their any talent within Bellchambers, or any of the other young rucks coming through,

bellchambers has promise. outside of him we have no young ruckmen - dean dick was backup ruck last week FFS! definitely need to at least rookie draft another ruckman later this year.

i guess it all depends on what they do with ryder - if he becomes a ruckman problem solved but then we'd be thin on defenders so you're robbing pete to pay paul sort of thing.

You truly are a ____ing idiot that knows NOTHING about football. Not wasting my time with you and nor should anyone else.

but anyways, i seriously hope they ommit Laycock... no good that guy.

Here you go mate.. something to keep you entertained in the bedroom when you are feeling lonely:

You must be kidding. Nash was quite good tonight. I also find it amusing that everyone writes off JJ one week then when we lose his name pops up.

JJ was a great player for our club but his time has come and gone. Only ones that really played poorly tonight was Lloyd and Laycock. Reimers was great and it's good to see some of the young kids keep getting better like Pears and Houli who is improving every game.

What?!! Lloyd wasn't at his best, sure, but a) the ball hardly made it into the forward 50 for the first half, so he kept presenting further down the field, and b) whenever the ball was coming forward, the lack of depth meant the ball was always heading to Matty, and he was completely shut out in defence. Had Laycock stepped up, and provided an option, you would've seen 4 goals out of Lloyd

Absolutely spot on.

Laycock was invisible forward. McPhee was presenting further up the ground but the Saints put up a wall in the middle of the ground and at half back.

We only got the ball in there 39 times.

I am going to suggest the 'ins' based on our future and not just winning next week's game;

Ins: Neagle, Daniher and Myers
Outs: Laycock, Lovett-Murray and Slattery

Forward line to look like:

HF: McPhee Lloyd Daniher
FF: Davey Neagle Monfries

He came back on and had the chance to win it for them. Idiot missed a lollipop goal. :D:D:D

I think he is ok and will play against us.

He is one player I would love to be injured, he tears us up regularly. (Not that I really wish injury on anyone, but I friggin hate this feral)

Out: Slattery

In: Myers

Where have Neagle and Gumbleton gone?!? Neagle seems to have gone missing completely and Gumbleton's hamstring is receiving the most conservative approach possible. It has been over 10 weeks. Assume he will be playing for Bendigo as he trained with the main group during the week.

Agree 100%, atm we have no other capable targets up forward leaving opposition backlines with the confidence to double/triple team Lloyd. Also I think our forward line is possibly the worst at blocking defenders and something we need to work on.

Myers amongst the best again. He must come in.
JJ should be bought in for this game. He is a hard bodied ball winner, who knows the sense of occasion on ANZAC Day, he is a must for me in this game.

IMO

In: Myers, JJ,

Out: Slattery, Monfries/Dyson

If it's true that Myers was rested in the second half then i'd say he's a strong chance to play.
IN: Myers
OUT: Whoever Knight's wants to drop, might need Slattery as a small defender so im not sure

Although Daniher and JJ have been impressive it would be a tough ask for them to be 100% by Friday, especially JJ with that ageing body of his.

Why do we need a USELESS player in Slattery. Small defender..well ____ me he wasn't doing that on Friday..in fact someone remind me what he actually did on Friday! The quicker he is playing for Bendigo for the rest of the year the better. If we want a tagger, Peverill is better.

I'd take Henry over Pev anyday. :thumbsu:
