Why is everyone jumping on Pev's back, he had to try and keep one of the games best players down, and to be honest Judd is back, and he is only gonna get better, as for some of the other names bantied around, dont drop Jetta, he should be used as a HFF as he is not an in and under player that people want him to be, as for others like Lonergan I think he is ok, took a very good "uncontested" mark and then went back to slot the goal, his skills are ok, but still a long way to go,

As for one Brent Stanton I think a rest for him would not be a bad idea as I think the extra attention he is recieving is something he is not used to and is still having a hard time in getting his head around it, much like one Marc Murphy last year when all their guns were out.

I would like to see players picked for a reason, not picked for one thing and then get played in another position, our forward structure is still out a bit, McPhee was ok last night, but he is not good enough for a centre half forward.

Will Gumbleton come straight in when he is fit after a couple of weeks in the VFL.

As for the kids give them a go, dont say drop them cause they have a bad game.

Reimers got absolutely towelled up by Betts, will want to lift if he's any chance to retain his spot, although he did look good in spurts. Not sure of any changes as of yet due to injury concerns so will assess later in the week.

Happy with the win though! :thumbsu:

Betts best quarter was the 1st when Rama was playing on him

He's injured fool, and as for people thinking/wanting him to be and in and under player, who on earth has been saying that? I certainly havn't heard anyone on here say that, of course he won't be an in and under midfielder.

It wasn't only that, as I said before, he was probably brought into the team to win the football and get clearances and he did neither of these so why should he keep his spot? We were smashed in the clearances which is why we should bring JJ back into the team.

With the forced change(s) I wouldn't drop anyone.

Stanton needs to put his body on the line, so I wouldn't be upset if Knights made an example of him but I think he's got it in him to change that without having to be dropped.

As far as ins go, defensive pressure would be nice.

Regarding Houli.. i think he had n injury concern last night..he didnt look right, plus he was wearing those thinck pads underneath his tights, which would suggest he had a corky still from the week before. It is very hard playing with a corky and it would of negated his running a fair bit, look to him bounce back next week.

Out: Pev, Jetta. (Maybe: Lonergan)
In: Welsh, Lovett-Murray. (Slattery? JJ? Neagle? CJ?)

We could use some bigger bodies in the forward line who can kick goals, I think we have enough small/fast guys in the team that we don't need to replace like-for-like.

Pev was bad tonight. Should be dropped.
Monfries didn't stay in it enough but tried.
Dyson used it well be didn't get enough of it again this week.
Houli was hardly in it but showed in flashes what he can do. Once he can put a full game together and work on his handball he'll be really useful.
Lonergan tried hard but his skills were bad and his tackling, while had intensity, was pretty poor. 50/50 on dropping him, probably keep him due to not having anyone to take his place.
Lovett was good and kicked some key goals when we needed them. I thought he should have got that other one too, looked like it was touched by the carlton player behind the line (he hit it back but it still didn't cross back into play--therefore he must have been behind the line when he hit it back in, therefore it was a goal).
Fletch had a bad game by his standards but was ok.
Mal was unlucky and still a little slow for Fev. I thought he was good otherwise.
Ryder is class, I can't get enough of him. I wish he played more around the ground.
Davey was good again. Love the guy.
Hille was out of at times but lifted at the end. Still needs to kick more goals given his puts himself in the right place to do so every week.
Jetta will be missed. Would have been nice to see some goals from him.
Laycock still needs to get that marking down. Great kick. If only he could get Hills marking ability and mobility but retain his kicking, and vice-versa.
Lloyd was average, took some good marks, could have got more goals but still got some very useful ones.
McPhee was one of our best, his leading up the ground and overall movement was exactly when we need of him. Stood up in the pressure with his marking this week. ;)
McVeigh: Super. Hope to see more games like this from him this year and less like the Geelong game.
Nash didn't use the ball tonight as well as he can.
Rama was average.
Reimers. Not sure what to say about him, could have done better in some aspects but used the ball ok most of the time, kicked a handy goal and looked compsed.
Stanton was good in the second half, ran hard and used the ball well.
Watson was down and it showed for the second week in a row. When he's not firing we have little in the stoppages. He needs help from others.
Winders was ok.
Great work but think about these one's are way wrong

Not sure what they can do with Stants. He should be dropped on principle for stepping out of Fevs way and letting him take an easy mark. It simply was not good enough. Three weeks in a row he has side stepped a contest. I know he is an outside player and that is fine but at various stages you have to take one for the team and he just isnt doing that at the moment.
I don't think his running to position is as good as it has been in the past either. He is struggling for form and it looks like a bit of confidence as well and it is getting close to the stage where they have have to give him a run in the two's to see if they can sort it out.

Unfortunately you can't 'teach' players to put their body on the line its a natural characteristic, you either do it or you don't and Stanton is one of those players who just doesn't have the fortitude to cop one for the team.

Houli really needs to work harder to create space and provide more run. For one of the fittest blokes in the team he didn't run hard enough last night, hence his lack of possessions. Reimers got absolutely towelled up by Betts, will want to lift if he's any chance to retain his spot, although he did look good in spurts. Not sure of any changes as of yet due to injury concerns so will assess later in the week.

Reimers played on Betts for one quarter. Apart from that I thought Reimers was our best youngster (other than Ryder)

Out: Jetta, Pev
In: Welsh, Myers/Hocking if fit, otherwise JJ
I doubt Hocking would be fit yet, if he was he'd definately be one i'd want in the side though.

Myers will be back this week but I doubt they'd bring bring him into the senior team coming straight back from injury, likely to play for Bendigo then put in the senior team the next week if he plays well. I hope he comes into the side soon aswell.

you gotta be kidding me. why would u drop monfries he was fantastic last night. To be honest didn't think pev was that bad as people are saying (yes i was at the game)

IN: Welsh, Neagle,
OUT: Jetta, Probably Pev,

I don't think he was terrible, but i don't think he was fantastic either. Against the dogs, we want a good tall forward line, and monfries or lonergan were the worse of our 4 small forwards, so one of them should be dropped to let Neagle play, becuase jetta played mid on saturday. so.....

Welsh for Jetta as Mid/Forward
Neagle for Monfries to add height
NLM for Pev to create for run than Pev did, plus we won't need Pev to play on a Judd this week.

Its time...

Its time we bring Hislop or Hocking in the side. So far our youngsters have taken on the new game plan really well, but we are still getting slaughtered in the middle. Its their time to shine and lets hope they are in for the Doggies.

Don't you read training reports or injury updates.

Hislop is out for 3-4 weeks and Hocking has been injured and played a half in the VFL reserves this weekend.

I thought Hislops wrist was only 1 week, and Hocking was going to be good this weekend?

Re: Its time...

Hislop injury has probably already been assessed and said he's out for 4 weeks.

At the MCG last night he was listed as being out for 4 weeks and http://www.injuryupdate.com.au/afl.php has listed him as out for 4 weeks aswell.

Hopefully Hocking is close to getting fully fit though, sure would be nice getting another strong body into the midfield so we can piss Peverill and JJ off. Says he's due for a round 4 return on injuryupdate.com, and with him playing a half in the ressies on the weekend hopefully it'll mean he'll be back this week or the next.

He wasn't much good for us last week in the clearences
Will do a better job than Peverill who only managed to get 1 against the Blues. JJ was one of the best for Bendigo, so he should be brought back in for Peverill unless Hocking is fit enough to come in and take Pevs spot.
