I'm now worried about Waters and Hill having enough time to hit form when they come back

That's a different matter IMO. Griff and Morra had year long rehabs at least, and Sylvia was so under-done it may have well have been a major injury.

Hill was on-song before he left, he'll be back up to speed very quick. Not sure bout Sonny, but given the way observers described his training form and his rehab efforts, I'm hoping he will pick it up quickly. If he's back after the bye then he should have enough time.

People say I only come on here after a loss and fly off the handle. I went to the game and you could tell early on it just wasn't going to happen for us. What cost us in the end was also what was costing us at the start: no pressure, no effort, no intensity, and terrible skill execution. Just not the clinical football Freo's been capable of playing against terrible sides.

But, I'm not tearing my hair out and I'm still optimistic. Ballas is so important to our forward line and we missed him. The inside 50s were being butchered, and if you had him out there, he'd be the kind of guy to make bad entries redundant – he'll clean up anything. Hill, Sandilands, a cooked Luke, and even Son Son out are all significant issues. I know excuses are naff. But it is worth remembering most of those players are in the top echelon for their positions.

I still think Freo can finish top two, and I still would be shocked if the team dropped out of the four. I'm optimistic.

Two things could and really have to happen: the players who didn't put in shouldn't be put on the whiteboard. And the guys, about 17 or 18 of them last night, should come away and realise how important pressure is. It's what Fremantle made a Granny with: hard running, alertness, and just being up for it. You take that away from any side and even the Swannies and Hawks'll lose to the Sainters or GWS.

The other thing is, Port are dropping. It was inevitable. It's a natural reaction after winning for so long to just lose. They lost to a simply shit Richmond and nearly lost to an average Demons in a game they really should've risen for.

However, I love a scape goat and these are mine:

Sylva – is the total opposite of what Lyon and Freo pride themselves on and try to be. Why or how he was picked up is beyond me. Just bizarre. It reeks of the kind of thing the club'd do in 2003. He just doesn't care, he doesn't run enough, he lapses mentally and butchers simple things, he doesn't win his own footy or want to win it enough... a guy like DeBoer is no worse a player, but intensely better as someone who actually puts in.

Pearce – this too was another odd move, and I was always apprehensive and still wouldn't say his acquisition is a pass. It's not a fail, but he hasn't set the world alight – he hasn't even lit a cancery down South Mole. I don't hate him, he gives us another option as that outside player, and he takes stress and attention off Hill (which we all know is needed). But to be guaranteed in the 22 every week. That always bemused me.

Taberner – this guy is seriously so shit I have no idea why he isn't decried around here and how he's patronised games. Just useless. He's played, what, 15 games and barely seems to improve. He's still lumbering, lazy, with no pressure or desire to win the ball – something Ballas and Mayney did non-stop as forwards. He doesn't attack the ball. He can't crash packs. He's apparently some awesome leader, who some on here reckon is akin to Nick Riewoldt (this is so dumb and always was going to be I just... what even), but he doesn't even present.

He has no desire. He seems happy to play AFL, but he doesn't want to excel at AFL. He's gutless, he's useless, he's soft, and he's shit – and he's never gonna get any better. Apeness is bigger, sure, but he came into the team and as underprepared and unfit as he is, still had the backing and confidence to get involved. That's what you want in a debutant: someone who isn't scared, someone who channels their excitement with trying his best to be his best, not someone who just gets shit scared.

TLDR of Silent Alarm's post:

Everyone in the forward line got hardly any touches.

The fact that St Kilda had the ball most of the game is no excuse for deep forwards not having midfield-type stats.

Delist everyone.

What? It's not about stats. There were guys who barely got a touch in the midfield who at least put in some semblance of effort. What I'm saying is there are guys who were exposed yesterday for what they do in every game but can get away with when four points get jotted down. Pavlich went alright, bit of effort, and guys like Tendai went up the ground and put in an effort that wasn't lazy. I said recruiting Sylvia was dumb and he doesn't do anywhere near enough and what did the club expect, Pearce needs to do a lot more or else he shouldn't be playing every single weekend. Taberner should be delisted though. Spud.

This reminds me of the Red Wedding, everything was going ok, looking up, getting on a role, then came St.Kilda, should have them sewed up, then they butchered us like those Starks at the feast.

Our forward line will look different by 2016, Pav, Kepler, will be gone, Tabs has till then to prove his worth, and with Apeness provide our two tall forward players.
Unless we can snare a quality Tall, which we have failed in the past to achieve, these two will be given time, games, to fast track their development.
I dont understand how you can call him a spud, he is not a power forward, but a leading forward, Apeness and him should provide our forward line with two different styles. Have a look at the kangaroos forwards, for a comparison, Id rather play
Tabs than Black or Daws.

I don't know which was more shocking or heartbreaking.

I have a confession to make, the truth is that the loss yesterday is my fault.
Im a curse on the football club and I can prove it.
Below are Fremantle games in Melbourne that I have attended since 2000.
2000: 3 games for 1 win (1 point win Vs Tigers)
2001: 3 games no win
2002: 4 games no win
2003: 3 games no win
2004: 2 games no win
2005: 1 games no win
2006: 1 games no win
2007: 3 games no win
2008: 3 games no win
2009: 3 games no win
2010: 2 games no win
2011: 3 games no win
2012: 1 game no win
2013: 0 games and we make the GF o_O

And so that brings me to july 16th 2014, this day I decided that my curse was going to end, I decided this was the game I could see a win with my own eyes after 13 long years.
It was all perfect, 18th Vs 2nd with St Kilda having lost 11 on the trot, what could possibly go wrong.

I should have known better, I should have stayed away and in coming to this game I doomed the club.

So since 2000 im 33 and one  Im deeply sorry to the club, its members and supporters for bringing this horrendous curse to the game on the weekend and in future I will do my best to stay away.

Maybe if you went to more games each year you would see more victories. If that doesn't work then start supporting West Coast :p Bring the curse to them ;)

You better stay away. Actually, move to the ACT where we never play games so you are not tempted to even drive past any stadium where we are playing.

I hear they're looking for colonists for Mars. I'll forward you the application forms.

More like Tywin copping it with his pants down while on the shitter. Tyrion the unwanted disfigured child has more than a few parallels with the Saints too.
