Apparently, It's Carter, not O'Meara that we are interested in.

Here is a quote from the West today:

It is believed West Coast have been closely monitoring Carter. The South Fremantle and Wesley College defender is the brother of Carlton rookie Mitch, and shone in the Alcock Cup last week, booting three goals from half-back.

Makes sense as O'Meara would demand too high a price.

Has anybody seen him play?

i place my faith in the WCE recruiters 100%.
i know they'll make the right decision.

although another goal kicking running half back player??
whats thats now? 7 or 8 we have now? :D

reading through the liens re carters f/s eligibility for freo if we had the second pick and o'meara wasn't taken first, we'd take carter and then hope to try to secure some sort of deal to get o'meara in 2012 draft??

or just hope JO fell through to us....

or maybe just take him anyway....

it has thrown a few tactical situations into the draft.

+1

It's the last thing we need. Best available can't be totally dismissed completely, but we don't want a HBF glut.

Used to coach him and he is brother's mate...best young player i have seen play, very composed, fast and efficient on both feet. Hasnt grown as tall as i would have thought though

Is he Noel Carter's son?

If so, big thanks to the AFL for changing Father/Son requirements from 50 games to 100 games (Noel played exactly 50 games for Richmond before coming across to Souths).

Heard that said about a few over the years, but I believe you - it can only be good - obviously, he's a very talented kid, and wouldn't necessarily be pigeon holed to a HBF.
I hope we are a real shot at getting him then.
If he is Noel Carter's son, he is from good stock. Noel was a good footballer.

What will we be looking for in this years Draft? We drafted 3 defenders in Sheppard, Brennan and Wilson. Do we need another one in Carter?

First pick will be in the 20's i would assume... But we could still get lucky like last year. Quick, someone punch O'Meara in the back of the head and put some questionable women in his tent.

Snore.already sick of hearing.about O'meara and the massive wank fest over him. Will not play AFL till 2013 and as we all know, 2 years is a long time. Just ask Tom Swift.

I watched the Alcock game last week, you can definitely see the difference between him and everyone else at that level. Literally looks like a walk in the park for him, he kicked all three goals IIRC from streaming down the opposite wing and receiving a switch and nailing it from about 40 out it blustery winds and wet conditions. He will be a gun, I am not surprised we are looking at him. Super kid as well.

Edit: And I think they only played him in the backline so he didn't receive a tag, the Wesley midfield is strong as it is so they put him on the half back line, but he did go in the midfield every now and then.

Agreed. 2 years is a very long time in football. 2 years after winning the premiership we were 2nd last on the ladder.

I premiership window is opening now, whilst we still have Kerr, Cox, Glass, Embley among our ranks, we should be making a full-blown tilt. I would rather chase a young but proven midfielder like Rich.

But who really knows? Our premiership window could really open in 2013 and having an additional gun midfielder who help.

In Woodhouse I trust.

Well played sir!

Adam is son of Lindsay Carter, who played for Perth in the 80s.

Fantastic player, has always been at the top of his group. Not sure where the defender idea is coming from, as fas as I've been aware he's always been primarily a midfielder.

His brother Mitch is stiff to still be on the rookie list at Carlton as well FWIW.
