Wow. Just wow

While the 7 plus has some handy features (dual lens camera, 256gb storage) the iPhone 7 is really a so-so major upgrade. HD screen where the rivals have quad HD.

What are peoples thoughts on the lack of headphones? I think its a terrible decision. How can people listen to music and charge.... I hope the other manufacturers don't follow suit.

Would be an issue at work, taking calls on the phone but have to direct people to office landline if I need to charge.

Never had a wireless bluetooth, that would seem like an easy fix for the issue above, but yeah I'd imagine that it'd still be a battery killer. And don't see how anyone could think about buying those Air Pods when they seem tailor made to be lost within a week of purchase.

Point is moot cause I'm more than content with a 6P for at least another year, but interested in the 7's camera and that 256gb cause I still carry an iPod touch for music and am constantly having to remove albums from it.

Not sure if I should upgrade from my 6s Plus. Going from 128 to 256GB would be pretty nice, along with the telephoto lens, waterproof & wide gamut display. Lack of headphone jack doesn't bother me as I use external DACs anyway. Stereo speakers would be handy for Youtube vids when I can't be bothered using headphones.

Disappointed no OLED display (though I knew about it ages ago from all the leaks) and that the side bezels are still too large & overall the phone is heavier than the competition. Not that I mind the 6s ergonomics, but its a big phone for the size of the display by 2016 standards. Would be very nice if the glass was more durable & the body more scratchproof so it didn't need a case + screen protector if we're talking wishlists. Also would be kinda nice if Apple brought their upgrade plan to Australia as not everyone buys on a contract through a carrier.

Next year's iPhone will be something special for the 10th anniversary I'm betting, likely OLED and probably new innovations. This one is a little meh and has the feel of a stopgap while they work on new tech for the next phone. Not so bad when you consider how good the 6s is already, but it lacks wow factor and I wouldn't think sales will be off the charts as a result. Then again... at least the damn thing's battery isn't going to explode & set cars on fire haha.

I love the idea of wireless headphones.
Chords are going out of date. Not concerned at all.
Bluetooth headphones have been around for 5+ years and have been largely rejected by the market

not a tech lover.

just dont the point of spending $100 plus on a bunch of wireless headphones that i will break and will lose. I always misplace and destroy my current wired ones.

i just hope other companies dont try and follow apples lead and make everything wireless. i love having one set of equipment which works for all your tech needs. Wires are annoying but so very practicable and cheap.

If you want to keep using your old wired headphones you can with the lightning jack to 3.5mm jack that is provided when you get the phone.
If you want to use the new wired apple earphones you can.
If you want to charge your phone and listen on wired headphones there is an adaptor that lets you do both at the same time
If you want wireless headphones you can do that too.

I don't see what all the whingeing is about personally

it is not very practicable to carrying more and more gadgets and all these add to the cost.

i have hardly used my headphone port on my current phone but i hate not have it on my phone. if i used my phone as an mp3 player though......

i am not the target audience for the new phone though. the targets are the high-tech savvy people who always need the best and newest thing. Apple are testing the waters before the 8 next year.

All of this could be done without an adaptor before. It's a regression disguised as innovation in order to sell more of their Beats Bluetooth headphones.

Was a bit worried when I bought my 6s earlier this year (and recently replaced it thanks to thieves) that the iPhone 7 would shit on it, Doesn't look to be the case.

I don't get how anyone can say wireless headphones are good. Apple's battery life with iPhone's are bad enough. A 40 minute trip to the city using Spotify, some Facebook and maybe a bit of web-browsing can sometimes leave me with 60% battery left for the rest of the day. Bluetooth for headphones would be a nightmare. Cringe inducing attempt by Apple to show that they're still full of high levels of innovation, when they simply aren't anymore.

They've claimed better battery life than 6s. However they neglect to mention that Apple originally reduced battery life from iphone 6 to 6s. They've now brought the iPhone 6 battery back, I am guessing and claiming it as an upgrade.

Maybe not the thread but, does anyone know the best way to go about fixing a three-month old 6S with a chipped screen? I have the shitty Telstra warranty care but they charge $220+50 for a new screen, or $220 for a replacement phone. Am I just better off going to Apple for $220? Also what is the chance of me getting a brand new replacement iPhone and not a refurb from Telstra?

Sorry and thanks.

Have upgraded to iOS 10 on my 6S, it's very nice. Messages, widgets, maps.

Probably won't be upgrading until the 10th anniversary model next year.

You do of course realise your 4G connection only goes as far as the Cell tower. After that the backhaul is most likely fibre, which last i looked was a cable.

If you are surfing the net/watching video etc the entire journey past the tower is wired. If you are interacting with another phone, the whole wireless journey of your interaction is likely less than 2km all up. Whether they are next door or in NYC.

Cords aren't going anywhere.

The context of my comment was regarding wireless headphones, not internet service.

I love the idea too, however they are incredibly overpriced and sound like arse compared to cabled headphones. They are useful for some applications (eg. exercise) but in general they are unnecessary. Of course, I can't see this effecting Apple customers much as they tend to just eat up whatever is served to them, and they've conveniently announced some Beats headphones at the same time to try to get people to upgrade to less ridiculous but far more expensive headphones (that still sound like arse).

Cords aren't out of date, they are still the cheapest, easiest, and highest-quality way to transmit audio.

Well, currently playing around with a iPhone 7 Plus that came in at work. It feels quite heavy compared to the 6s Plus (from memory), nice camera and screen, but I can't really see any outstanding features.

Know a few die hard android users who are considering a switch to Apple. I tend to agree with them. Samsung phones are full of crap you dont use and the new Google pixel phones look ugly.

IOS 10 seems to run quite nicely. It runs good on my ageing iPhone5S work phone. Can imagine its a delight on iPhone 7.
