We have the biggest squad, and easily the worst. No power hitters...unless you are counting Carlos Brathwaite and Chris Morris, who are lower order strikers at best. I guess Albie Morkel may get a gig but he's getting on, and Negi is largely unproven. No out and out pace bowlers, apart from maybe NCN, who may not even start if they feel the need to justify Morris' huge paycheck. The only good thing about our squad is the youth but they swap teams so regularly that it doesn't really matter. Awful effort at the auction, awful squad. Lock in a bottom spot again.

I'm looking at his 2015 IPL performance and his 2015/6 BBL performance and no, I don't think a 34-year-old on current form is worth 30% more than the 2nd highest paid player in the IPL auction and double almost everyone else.

I'm not saying don't pick him. What I am saying is I'm staggered he's being paid like he's the Bradman of the IPL who is head-and-shoulders above everyone else.

Just a question to throw out there: why are there so few Indian coaches of IPL franchises? Former Indian players not interested? Better options abroad? Just had a look at the list and was surprised to see almost every franchise bar one with an international coach (Delhi still to name theirs).

I'm a bit confused about ours, we named Rahul Dravid as our 'mentor' (figured we would after signing heaps of ex-Royals yesterday). Does that mean he's our coach? Haha.

Fantastic get for us either way!

Bailey was very poor last season though
Thought his impressive Big Bash and leadership credentials may have seen him get a spot. I wouldn't have minded if Delhi had grabbed him to skipper as I'm not sold on Duminy as captain.

Still would you pay his reserve price? I wouldn't. He isn't worth it.

His reserve price was only 1 crore, I'd pay that. I mean, we paid bloody 7 crore for Chris Morris and 8.5 for Pawan Negi...

Can't believe no one picked Khawaja.
And just putting it out there, I'm a Sunrisers Hyderabad fan.

Would be better with a local that is cheaper.

If we needed a leader, which is what I am saying, there was nobody anywhere near cheaper.

We look very short on experience now.

Buying someone just for experience in a t20 is an expensive way to do it

We had 37 crore to play with, 1 crore is not much at all relatively speaking. It isn't as though he didn't have a good Big Bash either.

Australian conditions yes. He was so poor in the last IPL in India

Still think that the Mumbai Indians line up best on paper

Mumbai Indians
1. Rohit Sharma
2. Jos Buttler
3. Ambati Rayudu
4. Corey Anderson
5. Kieron Pollard
6. Patriv Patel (wk)
7. Hardik Pandya
8. Tim Southee
9. Vinay Kumar
10. Harbhajan Singh
11. Lasith Malinga
There's 5 overseas players in that lineup.

Parthiv Patel+
Jos Buttler / Lendl Simmons
Rohit Sharma*
Ambati Rayudu
Keiron Pollard / Corey Anderson
Hardik Pandya
Harbhajan Singh
Tim Southee / Mitch McClenaghan
Jasprit Bumrah / R Vinay Kumar
J Suchitch
Lasith Malinga

Looks short on batting, but is pretty much the same team that won the title last year.

You've got to love Cricinfo commenters.

"...yet D Hussey, Blizzard, Levi, N McCullum, Amla, all established T20 megasuperstars, asked for a crore or less and went unsold!"
Typing Pune Super Giants every few minutes probably doesn't help toning down the hyperbole.
