If you look back at the history of the International rules series, it's actually been really competitive between Aus and Ireland. There's no reason to believe an Aussie AFL player would dominate playing gaelic football.Would Irish clubs prefer our young talent head over there and play their rules? FMD, imagine that, would be carnage.

Did you ever have much info on Conor Glass? There was a Hawks podcast where they were talking about the kid and apparently he was an absolute Gaelic prodigy before we poached him.
On the Adding professionalism to that mix would further stack the dice against weaker counties as most don’t have the economic or demographic resources to compete with larger counties. All in all the amateur ethos is better suited to the code at present.
The GAA reminds me of the NCAA in the States. Their officials don't want to pay their athletes by trotting out the "student athlete" line all the while making a motza off tv deals.Except the GAA isn't amateur. They just don't want to pay players. If there's really an "amatuer ethos" then get rid of the TV deals, get rid of the corporate sponsorships, downsize from the 82,000 stadium, cull the full-time GAA officials who defend "amateurism" without a hint irony.
He was, he played at u-18 level for Derry when he was still 15-16 , and scored a spectacular goal in the minor all-Ireland final against Kerry. His native county Derry is relatively weak at the moment so an AFL career was probably his best option tbh.Did you ever have much info on Conor Glass? Those are fair criticisms to make of GAA HQ; particularly in the context of the current Leinster championship which Dublin are dominating in part thanks to the continued scheduling of games at Crocker. On the other hand it’s worth remembering that the inter-county championship has always drawn big crowds and sponsorships, even back in the day when it was a far more amateur code (in terms of facilities etc) than it is now.Except the GAA isn't amateur. Setanta was a thug, nothing more, (wasn't even good at that unless he could kick a helpless team mate in the face whilst laying on the ground) one of the bigger pieces of s**t to ever don an AFL jumper.[/QUOTE
Brainsnap at Carlton but who hasn't made a mistake.Look at a lot of ex footballers who now work in the Vic footy media. Was well liked at Giants from what I know
It's hard to respect the GAA when they are a bunch of blouses.
Not good enough for Galway though mind you the last time Clare won a Munster football title (1992) Marty Morrissey produced one of the most memorable comments in the history of the game (1.55 onwards)Thankfully we of the Banner County only produce quality Hurlers. Be surprised to see any footballers from the County.
Who do you think? Same as here, headquarters, the GAA. Is Australia backward too?So who gets the money from the television rights - sponsorships - gate takings? I know the Irish are backward but FMD.
Players pay is linked to media rights here, so you're wrong.Who do you think? Same as here, headquarters, the GAA. Is Australia backward too?
And who do the media sign the deal with? The clubs, the players association, or the AFL?Players pay is linked to media rights here, so you're wrong.
