Could the inbetweeners be made now

The yanks tried out their own version in 2012

I think the central idea - teen boys trying to get cool and get laid - is always going to be timeless. There isn't ever going to be a timeline where highschoolers aren't like this, even beyond the Age of Woke. An amusing execution of that idea though, that's another story.

I'm home sick, and I saw this:

... and remembered this thread.

The series of vids - and he's not yet finished - goes into significant depth as to CK's comedy, his cancellation, and the depths to which he created a persona that is clearly not at all who he was, alongside analysis of his comedy and why you can't just... laugh at it anymore.

As far as I'm aware, Gethelred isn't pregnant. It's just a bump.

Congratulations.
I will have you know I'm just big boned, thank you very much.

Comedy isn't dead, but it may be on life support. But not for the reason most of the people who decry the "death of comedy" would believe.

If it is, its because comedians have forgotten the essence of comedy is punching up. The trouble is, comedians cant genuinely punch up now because authoritarian right wingers actually will cancel them.

So they punch down at targets they say are privileged and powerful but really arent all that. And comedy becomes the spectacle of watching the school bully beating up the kid with glasses and then having the school joker make a joke about how the kid whose glasses just got broken is a loser and had it coming. Comedians have become the embodiment of that little dog in the Warner Brothers cartoon, bouncing around the big dog in obsequious approval asking if tbey want to go chase cats today.

What they make themselves out to be is courageous victims of cancel culture. What they are is cowardly flunkies.

Disagree, there’s plenty of comedians still punching up, just a few ‘big names’ punching down.
