...or is the lid well and truly on in Geelong this year? This time last year, it seemed every shop window and 2nd house was decorated with Geelong paraphenalia and every 2nd or 3rd car had a Geelong flag flapping in the breeze. Was walking around town yesterday and there was hardly a blue and white painted window to be seen.

Scars from last year? Also we haven't been nearly as dominant this year. We kind of killed the competition last year - until Grand Final day that is.

I honestly think it is because of last year. I dont mind keeping a lid on things, but at the same time, if you cant show your passion and love for your club during finals..... then when can you. I would definately like to see more blue and white across the town of Geelong.

Funny you mention that, as not 3 hours ago I was driving into Geelong and saw a flag on someones fence and thought to myself... I'm sure there was heaps more fanfare last year - maybe it will kick in if we make the GF...

a lot of the perceived "Geelong arrogance" combined with not winning last year has left people gun-shy. If Geelong make the grand final more people would let it all hang out

If we win the premiership this year, I think the celebrations will be even bigger and better this year than they were in 2007.

To win it this year after being written off by so many people, after all the injuries we've had, after our best forward and number one ruckman looked like their seasons were done.... Wow. It would really be something special.

Nah it won't be bigger than 2007. Breaking a 44 year drought in such an amazing way is still much greater than simply ignoring what some people in the media say. That being said i don't think it will be small party if we win. It will still be massive city wide party.

I think overall people are just getting used to it. 3rd year in a row where we have looked capable of winning the flag and people are starting to take it for granted.

I have seen a few cars with flags on them (my mother has already lost 2 from her car) i think the Addy is selling flags sometime this week so you should see more around.

Firstly if we win the flag this year it will be way better than '07, way better. I think experince the glory of '07 and the horror of '08 back to back has made be appreciate how good it is to win. I want that feeling again, badly.

As for the lid, well our bad form had everyone including me writing us off. We played half a good game against the Dogs, I hope we now bring our A+ game this Saturday because that is what is required now. I very cautious about this weekend.

Addy flags are on sale on Saturday, so expect the colours to come out just in time for Saturday night.

Other than that it has been very quiet this year and I have no problem with that at all. If we win on the weekend though...

Interesting living in outer eastern suburb of Melbourne, most people I come in touch with want and hope St Kilda to win this year, otherwise Doggies, for the obvious reasons. I meet lots of people every day. It's kind of like "Geelong had their chance, time for a change". My family lives in Geelong and they've commented on the VERY HEAVY LID this year, obvious conservativism after last year. Anticpate massive blue and white everywhere in Geelong this time next week if we win on Sat.
We are not favourites this year, either form- wise or popularity-wise.

That's funny because most neutrals I know want us or the Dogs
to win. The Dogs because everyone has a soft spot for them, and us because we 'deserve' it after being so good for three years and we're a humble club that is for the most part respected by most.

I don't know any neutrals who want St Kilda to win it - they have the single
most hated player in the league (Milne), a lot of people find their supporters unbearable and some resent them for all ther early draft picks - something we've never had te luxury of because we never finish down the bottom.

As for Collingwood, well, they're Collingwood...
