Strategy Is it possible

Common sense in my opinion is to actually remove compensation picks. it's all swings and round abouts. technically if you lose a FA let's say they go for $500K. then you should have $500K to throw at another player. over a 3-5 year period it will even itself out.

But you may then have to trade for that replacement player so he'd cost more than just the salary cap

Is it possible?

1) We get Treloar pissing off those cocky Tigers supporters getting ahead of themselves. Looking likely

2) We then only give our first pick and an excess player for Treloar annoying all those plastic franchise supporters at GWS who said we would have to pay a heap to get him. So many GWS supporters (all 3 of them) were saying they would not accept less than 2 first round picks.

3) We get Aish for a 2nd round pick and a surplus player. The Brisbane supporters may just explode, if any left.

4) We get Kreuzer as a free agent but not paying enough to give Carlton band 1 compo. Not sure i really want Kreuz but this would annoy Carlton supporters not getting band 1 and also annoy Richmond supporters who apparently want him.

In 1 trade period we piss off supporters of Richmond twice, Carlton, Brisbane and put GWS supporters in their place.

I call it Ed's evil plan.

It is not out of the question we can land all of Treloar, Aish and Kreuzer.

Treloar is said to want to come to Collingwood, not that, that is new news. Maybe our first round picks for this year and next year do it. Maybe our first round pick and Witts does it.

For Aish, our second round selection and Seedsman may enough and has been rumoured, and some variation of this deal is also possible.

And Kreuzer may also be possible and if Witts goes in a trade to GWS for Treloar, he would be a very handy get and certainly in the immediate an upgrade and suitable ruck partner for Grundy.

At the end of the day, the key thing is getting better. We've got our draft picks and young core of developing players. So now it's time to add established players who can improve our best 22 so that we can again become a top eight team, if not get back into the top four position. These three also fit into the target age bracket of players younger than Cloke, so we'd be well positioned next season to move on up with these list additions if we are so lucky as to get them all.

I'm purely talking FA here. so there would be no trades. there still is an onus of responsibility on the clubs to make them look attractive to players. weather that be culture or facilities etc.

With a 6 year deal rumoured for Treloar there's plenty of room to be creative with the cap.
Yep, posted this yesterday, (assuming it's $4.2m over 6 years)...
$450k, $550k, $550k, $850k, $850k & $950k

I don't know the ins and outs of the clubs cap, so he might get paid heaps in a random year or the last couple instead of gradually building up, but yeah the general principle is the same.

Part of the reason I wouldn't be adverse to re-signing Scharenberg on a 4 year deal either.

I'm a GWS member and won't the least upset.

also with the new TPP allowed to be spread out over multiple years ( % under % over ) we need to account for Keefe and Thomas as their contracts became null and void thus most likely wiping off $300K off our TPP in 2015 which can be thrown onto Trelor for 2016
