Is my name offensive?

I just got an ultimatum to can my name because one person found it offensive.

What is up with this place? People like Joffa and Alf rag people to the rafters and its deemed that my name is offensive

Its taken from the lead singer of TISM for christ sake!

It depends on how you are intending to use it, and how you are intending to post, IMO.

If you are intending to post abusive threads, then the assumption will also be that your name is also intended to be offensive. (I'm not saying you have, or are aiming to do that either!).

Apart from that, I don't think the name is necessarily offensive. I picked up on the TISM link, however, it's unlikely that most others would immediately associate the link. Looking at it from a TISM perspective, I see no problem in the name at all. However, considering some of the political/emotional/personal baggage that people might associate with it, I could understand that there would be some, who would possibly be offended by the name.

Then again, you'd have to ask, are the people complaining, because they find it offensive, or because they are acting as do-gooders, on the premise that someone else might find it offensive??

At the end of the day, I think it comes down to what/how you are going to post.

I hope Bluey reads it. Must admit I did get mad when I read I might have to change my name because one person found it offensive?

Especially when I explained it was a link to TISM and not Adolf.
