Every time I see him or a box score for a Portland game he has done absolutely nothing.

Appears to be getting well and truly beaten by Lopez today.

1. He's young, and coming off a season long injury...give him some time
2. He has had some good games...check back a couple of days and I'm pretty sure he grabbed 17 and 13, or something around that

Nope, I think as Sblack says, he's had a dreadful run of injuries.

He has shown glimpses that if he can stay healthy, he'll be a very good player.

He'll be a solid C that is disrupted by injuries throught-out, I dont think he'll ever be a superstar or even a very good player, just a solid contributer.

I said Durant would be the better player at draft time and I stand by that, however. :) ;)

settle down, too early to call. He had microfracture surgery. It takes some time to come back from that if you can at all. Remember it took Amare Stoudemire some time to come back and he had experience on his side, Greg had to deal with it during his most important development year.

Revisit this thread at the end of next season.

Nah, you have to take into account that he only plays 23 minutes a game.

Basically, if you compare him to Brook Lopez, they have just about exactly the same numbers per-36 minutes, with Oden actually being slightly ahead.

Is that due to his injury or the fact that he is constantly on 2 fouls after 45 seconds?

A bit of both, but I think both will eventually resolve themselves.

He'll never be Shaq, but I definitely think we will see something like 15/13/2.5 from him within a couple of years, which is plenty useful.

I think his micrfracture will prevent him from ever being elite.

Yes Amare got back, but not to the athletic beast he was. He worked on his jumper and that is why he is still a pretty good scorer.

Oden will have to develop something else (a post game?) to compensate for the fact he will never regain that athleticism.

I said at the time they should have got Durant and was roundly criticised here

Oden will be very good. But Lopez will be better ;)

I'm one of Lopez's biggest fans but if you can't go a thread without wetting your pants about every random Nets player there is you can just **** off.

It's not clever / funny / checky, just ****ing boring.

LOL @ all the posters who are saying at the draft they thought Durant would be better then Oden ...

Hindsight is 50/50 ..

You have to remember though Portland are still have a very decent foward as well in Lamarcus Alridge (whom is going to be an mulitple all-star in his career)

At the time, they made the right call.

as i said before, whoever turns out the better player was the one i thought shouldve been no 1.

These would be fair calls, except that Durant was universally regarded as the better player before the draft. Oden was a needs/size pick.

Stat Rats wont like him but his a massive presence who will play a huge role in the dynasty that Portland is creating. I love the bloke, just give him time his shown his promise after a rough ride entering the league.

Bullshit, Durant was the better player in college ball but as far as being a prospect goes Oden was #1 all day long.
He was considered the #1 pick for the class years leading up to it so i really dont see how Durant was the 'universal' better player.

The universal line before the draft seemed to be "Durant will win you games, Oden will win you titles".
