Troy longmuires discontent with the offer of a 1 year contract from the fremantle football club has been highly publisised in the press.

His WAFL finals performance was little short of amazing but does anyone think he has what it takes to hold down a spot in the dockers top 22 for the next 2 years.

A review of his stats from his 10 games this year.

Goals : 10
Behinds : 5
Possesions per game : 9.6
Marks : 34
Tackles : 17

Personall i don't think that he will be able to hold down a spot in Fremantles forward line for the next year, especially with Polak possibly moving to CHF, Waterhouse returning from injury and Farmer being given a set role close to goals.

What are your thoughts?

You need guys like Tlo on the list. Hes pushing for a spot so if the guys playing dont measure up he will take their spot. This keeps the pressure on the guys playing.

Tlos form has been great and he deserves his chance in his own right.

Heck if Croad could get a 3 year contract with your mob, T-Lo should get 2! He played an absolute blinder with West Perth in the Grand Final - would have come close for the Simpson Medal too.

Yes, he most definitely is. He is better than a lot of players on your list.

Like who, sucker?

Sure he's worth two years. On the few occasions he was given a guernsey this year he...

a) kicked a few against the Swans at the SCG (including that brilliant fake-out goal from fitty that more experienced punters would never dare).

b) thrice popped up when it counted against the Roos in probably our most famous victory of the year.

c) kicked a goal and semi-set up Medhurst for his match-sealer against West Coast in the Round 22 derby.

d) is the most endearing goal celebrant going around.

And those were all in the last six rounds of the season proper. I say sign the boy up. The fella tackles like a wind-demon, boots it a country mile and sure as Hades wants to play for us.

Andrew Browne
Daniel Gilmore
Ryan Crowley

Andrew Siegert
Scott Thornton

That's oversimplifying the situation somewhat Sera. It's very easy to go through the list and pick all the young kids , former rookie listed players, and wouldabeen - couldabeen champions, outside the best 25 list, and say T-Lo is better than all of them, but that's stating the VERY obvious.
How many of these guys were out of contract this year? Umm none. How many would be offered more than a year if they were out of contract? Dunno probably not many. How many will be delisted when their contracts are up? Probably a few. T-Lo could take the one year, play his butt off as we all know he can, then take a more permanent posotion at the end of 2004 at the expense of one of the players he is so obviously better than.
I seriously doubt that CC and the FFC don't rate T-Lo, but some of the aforementioned guys won't have the challenge laid down to them. It'll be "contract is up, see ya later."
I absolutely do not want T-Lo to go, he's bloody great to watch when he's firing, but it's up to him now. Play the way we all know he can - consistently at AFL level - or....
Having said that - I do not blame the guy one bit for wanting a bit more job security. So I say - give him the bloody two year contract and ditch some of the guys on Sera's list at the end of 2004 to fulfil the AFL's requirements of keeping the list ticking over.
