It been said that there is "99% chance of a lockout" next season.

If true and this goes ahead

1.which stars/players are playing their last season and having one last crack at the ultimate?

Shaq
Duncan
garnett
ray allen
grant hill
Possibly Kidd
??????

2.Hypothetically which teams/Players can benefit from a possible shortened season?Id throw in the Lakers(Kobe), Mavs(Dirk) and Miami(wade)...

shaq has another 2 left
same with ray but he probs got a few more
kidd has 1 or 2 seasons left
kobe could retire at the end of his current contract

my head hurts after reading that:confused:

there is no way shaq is playing another 2 seasons.1 more max,he only came back this year to beat Kobe

Bloody lockouts.

Looks like a reduced salary cap, so teams paying over the tops, like the Magic will incur some wicked tax.

Kidd could play for 3 more years minimum.

.

just looked at his stats and he is till averaging 33 minutes a game which is staggering for a 37 year old point guard

so yeah looking at it now, even if/when the lockout occurs he should still get another season or 2 past that.Unfortunately the lockout might make his chances of taking stockton's assist record suffer a bit though

js, if Kidd averaged 9 assists per game from here on out...it would take him another 7 seasons to pass Stockton.

Pretty sure John's safe, lockout or no lockout. :D

And I know there is 0% of this happening, but I'd love to see a truly hard cap, basically AFL style.

I'm sure we've had this conversation before, Matt. It is absolutely worth discussing.

I guess the first question would be are the NBA committed to 30 teams, regardless of their location.

I'd love to hear a well-reasoned argument for a hard cap, whether in your own words or through linkage. Personally, I don't like the idea one iota. I would, however, like to see the MLE abolished, and perhaps something like an NFL-style "franchise tag" introduced (although I'm a bit hazy on how that would work).

I have a feeling the discussion may have also involved the constant poor application of the MLE.

imo. the cap limit is good on 55 however i think the hard cap should make all teams be under 70 mill. however give teams who had cap space but used it all have a mle aswell. how is it fair the lakers and magic and celtics get it but the heat cant.

That's definitely a good discussion point. When can we start?

There's a big 3 at the Bulls?

I think he means Rose, Boozer and Noah.

That's not a big 3.

Since Boston and Miami, most teams fans refer to their best 3 players as the team's 'big 3'. It has gotten incredibly annoying.

Gay, Mayo, Randolph = not a big 3.

Griffin, Gordon, Kaman = not a big 3.

etc.

Love, Beasley, Darko? ;)
