Why does he always get mentioned as a player in the elite bracket? Never averaged more than 21 disposals for a season, and only averages a goal a game.

Played one of the worst games I've ever seen today. Could not stop fumbling, and kept dropping all his marks.

It sounds to me like commentators heavily overrate him because he has blonde hair and goes for speccies every now and then, but there are simply numerous better forwards and numerous better midfielders.

Does some good things in big moments but is no where near elite. Talk of him before the game becoming the best player in the comp are that far off the mark

Same goes for Callum Mills. Two players that are ok, but get talked up like they're Brownlow contenders.

Longmire refuses to play Mills in the position he was drafted in, and Longmire can't decide where he wants to play Heeney, changing Heeney's role every second week.

Mills is far more overrated.

Is genuinely a bog ordinary player these days.

It is what happens unfortunately. He was pick 3 in the draft as a midfielder, so what does Longmire do, immediately sticks him in defence and refuses to move him elsewhere,

He suffers IMO from being neither one thing or the other. He'd be an excellent mid but he's good enough up forward that he plays a rotational role that doesn't produce consistently excellent numbers.

He's also a little small to play as a proper FF like he did Rd 1.

Mills is kind of similar, except he's neither tall, nor especially incredible with the boot or with legspeed so that puts a cap on the quality of defender he can be.

Heeney has been drinking his own bathwater.

Seems to spend all game trying to either take mark of the year or kick goal of the year.

Repeatedly flying in the air nowhere near the ball.

Refuses to do meat and potatoes and neutralise a contest. All or nothing player which usually means nothing.

Blakey and Hayward in the same category.

A bit of a virus at our club ATM to be honest.

Agreed ... due to team makeup both of these lads have had their natural progression stifled .

Love the talent of Heeney & while Mills is overhyped, you can’t agree or disagree as he was hyped as a MID which he has never played.

I feel the Swans have blooded some good youth. I could be wrong but it seems there top players with midfield time are Kennedy, Parker, Florent & Hewitt. as Parker, Hewitt & Kennedy don’t offer much versatility I can see why Horse plays them where he does, but to me Heeney & Mills are there best talents and should be played at there natural position to exploit there talents.

he mills and blakey are talked up so vic clubs can whinge about the academy

but yep heeney is overhyped, b grader at best, shows flashes and goes missing, media talk like he is a massive key pre game

Mills has slowly turned into a really solid back pocket with surprisingly good kicking skills and creativity, but after being taken as the best inside midfielder in his draft pool has never actually played as an inside mid for any stretch of time. I still don’t know if he is currently tracking as a win or a loss?

Heeney is probably overhyped, but he’s still a good player. Agree with others though - his actual role in the team isn’t particularly clear, but he generally gets away with it because 20 possessions and a goal or two still reads like he’s done his job.

Played his best game for a while today.. Maybe Horse has been playing out of position, he seemed to thrive playing further up the ground.

Well round 1 was a long time ago.

Anyhow I have always been a fan of his and think this thread was a bit harsh
