I know everyone is trying to be upbeat, and move on to next season.
All the threads so far seem to be focusing on that and trying to keep our spirits up, and I appreciate that.
But I think part of moving on is admitting the pain.
It bloody hurts.
To work so hard all season, to dominate the way we did, and to just have it slip from our fingers f***en kills.
It wasn't by our own doing either, which probably pisses me off even more.
We just lost players at the wrong time of the season, and as Mick said, we just couldn't get them up right in time.
It was all about timing.
No matter how dominant you are, or how good you are, if you're not ready for the big dance, you'll lose it.
I'm so proud of what we've achieved, but yes, it still hurts.
I've sat through 3 Grand Final losses now, but this was the worst. We were never expected to stop the unstoppable Lions, but this year we were the supposed unstoppables.
Credit to Geelong for having the belief to take the cup, and they did it brilliantly.
I'm glad they were the team we lost to, their supporters didn't rub it in afterwards. I felt they were a bit empathetic towards us, considering they went through the same ordeal in 2008. At least the Cats fans on my train were thinking that way, I heard one say "I feel sorry for Collingwood".
Great respect for Geelong.
My friends (non-Pies fans) knew not to message me after the game, they knew how devastated I'd be. My Pie fans friends sent me messages of encouragement, we're trying to keep each others' spirits up, in between the "my heart is aching" lines.
I'm just shattered.
