Who out of these two guys would you prefer? Also for those of you who've been to training who has looked more impressive and who do you think we will be more likely to pick up? Some mentioned yesterday that the club is looking to take both of them. Is this true?

Personally I wouldn't mind taking both of them with later rookie picks but if I had to chose one I'd say Johnson. He is really hard at the ball and has really good skills. Could be a player if he puts on some weight.

The club is looking to take both of them.

From the very little that I have seen, I think Jake is better than TJ. Both are very slight but good players nonetheless.
jake looked pretty solid on the track yesterday, tommi on the otherhand is a whippet.

They're both short people. Good luck to them and good on the club for giving the kids of champions a go but they'll need to work very very hard and do something exceptional in the Bullants if they want to be on our list in two years time.

In 2 years these kids could have both grown a bit, put on some weight and be ready for AFL footy. IMO, they are worth the risk and should be given a chance on the rookie list.

Imo if we have to choose between them we should pick jake because his dad was always too slow and too small look how he turned out and because we didnt pick him he ended up winning a brownlow medal for sydney before he came back to us
Jake could be the same story if we dont pick him he could go to another club and become a champion for them

I don't think we should let the fact they are sons of greats over rule common sense. These days you need every edge you can get when choosing the rookie list. If you manage the rookie list well you should be able to get 1 good player out of the six every year. So sure, pick them if they have a good chance and there is some compelling reason why that haven't shown more at their ages. Also, we really should be creating two spots for a slow developing ruckman and KPP rather than some smaller players, who all else equal, should be a bit more advanced at 18-19.

Would be romantic to see both at the club. I think both have the ability but not the size. However, with a couple of years on rookie list they may be great for the club. These two, a ruckman and another quality rookie ala jackson would be perfect.

bit like how travis tuck was too skinny but like his old man, he just got better a bit latter, and he was almost cut except wallace though what if he is just like his old man so he cut someone else and look how that turned out.

You're talking about Shane Tuck...

I can understand not taking Sam in the ND, but surely there is room in the rookie draft for some loyalty to past legends.
Its not like these kids are nowhere near it, and if Jake developes at the same rate as his old man (late bloomer) then look out!!
Given them two of the rookie spots. Chances are the rookies don't make it anyway, so why not punt on these kids?

:) I would like to see both boys taken because I think they will both turn out to be guns. However, I heard a bit of a rumor today that Carlton is keen on Jake, but maybe a bit hesitant about taking Tommi because there is a bit of a history at the Club with Tommi's old man Wayne.

Does anybody else know anything more on this rumor?

As Tomi and Jake have both been through the draft and not selected and if they go through the rookie and pre season draft as well, can they re-enter next years draft and be taken with the father son selection??
Sorry if it sounds convaluted.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that they can.

Regardless of these boys talents, we don't owe past players anything as far as recruiting for the future of our club

Sure, you wouldn't recruit duds just because of their family name, but given that both kids are there or there abouts, I think there is room for some "romance" in the game, again, especially considering that whoever you passed them over for is just as unlikely to succeed.
Keep it in perspective.......these are rookies.......pot luck (unless you have hidden players interstate etc)

I wouldn't completely give up on getting Sam to Carlton. Sure we missed him in the ND, but there is always the "go-home" factor.

We would bag the crap out of crows fans if they suggested this, or indeed WA clubs suggesting Kennedy may leave in 1 year.
Short flights home, lovely beaches, warm weather, who knows if he'll leave.
