Well tomorrow i'm playing him in first 18 footy so i'll be able to report if he's worth drafting under father son or not! Will be interesting as Pultney have a fairly weak team this year.

Tell his mum and dad [Pam and Michael] Paul birdsey says hello

Well he didn't end up playing due to being called up to play Norwood Reserves which I guess is a good sign after hearing earlier in the season that he was quitting league football to concentrate on school unless we're trying to pull a Sean Rusling which would be odd since we have the father/son rights!

eh?

what does 'pull a sean rusling' mean?
No one heard of Sean Rusling before the draft of last year. He was taken by Collingwood with the 2nd round pick after playing School footy for all bar 1 game last year. There was an article in the papers not that long ago suggesting that Collingwood have "hidden" him from other AFL clubs.

collingwood werent really hiding him. sean just wanted to play for the school. just checking up that you werent dissing a fellow westminster old scholar :p

With a surname like Aish, the Crows would be crazy not to draft him coming from a champion football family. :)

By the way its Jesse Aish, not Jack. Played particularly well in an unfortunate 1 point loss to West.

Any details like how old he is, what position he plays, is he good enough to be picked up etc?

Macca if he's like his old man - stick thin, a touch slow, and clever as a sewer rat.

Don't know if it fits our preferred player profile or whether todays gamestyle will suit that type of player - if of course they're alike. ;)

He's 18, currently in his second year of Year 12 at Pulteney. Can play on a wing, although yesterday he was at full forward for most of the match. Personally I think he's definitely good enough to be picked up. As WW pointed out he's a stick insect although he's as tough as nails (accidentally took out a teammate last year at Glenelg). He's surprisingly pacy compared to his old man! Certainly caught out a few opponents yesterday let me tell you. Very good aerial skills and despite his frame (he's working on it, however I think he'll be primarily stickish for the rest of his career, its an Aish trademark  ) he wont back out of a contest.

He kicked three goals yesterday aswell. He takes a lot of contested marks and has a very...interesting running style.

Thanks for that - much appreciated. :)

There were some comentators on radio yesterday saying that the Adelaide Football Club are keeping a very close eye on Jesse Aish and seem pretty interested.

I find it strange that people refer to Michael as not having pace. From my recollections, Michael had pace to burn, but knew how to conserve it until he needed it, hence why he was very rarely caught with the ball. Having played against Michael, I witnessed first hand, his ability to accelerate just before you got to him, his ability to always hit a target by hand or foot and his absolute disregard for his own safety. If Jesse is anything like his father, then he should be a priority.

After having seen Gibbs on the weekend, he is another exciting prospect if he can put on a few kilos, could be a Scotty Thompson type if he gets a bit stronger. He's certainly not scared to get in the packs and has a beautiful raking kick. After being ripped off on the father/son rule for so long, it would be very sweet to see two fantastic prospects come to fruition.

If it’s a 50/50 proposition and a chance in a year or so he will develop into a good football player (skills and body development may not be up to it right now but in time will) I say go for it draft him under the father sun or leave it for a late pick in the 70 or 80’s

Like the sounds of the kid already. We could take him under FS this year and then go for Gibbs next year. I also see paynters son regularly figures in the Sturt under 16 bests - any one able to provide more info on the kid?

Is that what they call it pace conservation - now we know what to call Skippys pace deprevation problems :p

Your right though he didn't get caught, a fantastic player and as I said great footy brain.

Gyms wern't really the go then so Jesse may bulk up a bit - but without seeing him Melbournes Davey comes to mind - am I close?

Well Craig and Michael are old team mates - so Craigy would be well aware of the kid for years and years - won't be any surprises in this decision

Seb Paynter is in Year 11 at PAC, I think. So he might be a couple of years off to qualify under father/son, but apparently has the football gene, like his old man did. Fingers Crossed ;)

I still think Gibbs will be a KPP. He is tall already for a 16 year old and I suspect he still has some growing to do.
Wouldn't put my house on it Stiffy- I'll bet he bottoms out at 6' - 6'2" - is an early developer - see it all the time in basketball juniors.
