and skinny as a toothpick compared to darling? dawson's 6kg heavier than darling and 6cm taller.
 
Kid not yet 22 with 78 games and 136 goals under his belt having a bad few weeks = not improved at all? Yep, welcome to BigFooty.

Never mind that he kicked 24 goals in his first season... which the OP was a huge fan of... then backs it up with 53 goals in his second season, all the while forced to be the main forward in his team with LeCras out for season with a knee injury, and main FF (Kennedy) missing 16 games due to ankle injury, all the while still being a teenager and becoming the first teenager in 13 seasons to kick 50+ goals (previous: Lance Whitnall in 1999).

Two main forwards come back in 2013 and Darling still kickes 40+ goals, including 4 bags of 5 goals while not getting the pill delivered to him as often as the previous season...

Has still kicked 17 this year and is on pace for a 36 goal season... more if he gets back into form.

But yeah, he's a spud.

1st off dont bother bringing out the injuries because I can tell you Freo made the grand final last season with a heavier injury run than your mob.

Well Im going to give you the harsh reality.

Go look at Jack Darling stats of how he kicked his 40 odd goals in 2013. Yeah he did kick 5 goals in a derby but he had silvagni. Had he got McPharlin, he would of done as good as what tex did yesterday vs Freo. He also kicked 5 goals vs the likes of a horrible Melbourne and GWS side as well.

So what about how he went against the 6 games vs the top 4 clubs of 2013 against the Hawks, Cats, Dockers and Swans. Again he got 5 goals in a derby against Silvagni. yet the other 5 games he was either held goalless or kicked 1 goal. Darling on Saturday kicked 1 goal vs a top 4 hawks side. Whats does that tell you?

People use injuries to mask bad play... my example was that with injuries to other players, Darling was expected to do more than he would have at the start of that season... and did. My point was that the OP questioned whether Darling had improved from his first season.

But yep... let's make this about Freo.

Im telling it how it is. I found it funny people were comparing Jack Darliing to Wayne carey in his 2nd or 3rd season.

Ballantyne isnt just a goal kicker he actually works his bum out to try and get the ball as well not that you have noticed.

Im going to give you another harsh reality. A lot of people say you cant win grand finals with Ross Lyon football apparently. dominate the bottom 4 teams all you want, but if Darling cant kick goals against the big teams, your just wasting your time. Darling has been brilliant against the Hawks and Roos in the last 2 weeks hasnt he? 1 goal in each on both of those games.

Come on tell me how many goals has Darling has kicked against the top 4-6 sides this season? When was the last time Darling has kicked 5 goals against a top 8 club?

Darling does exactly the same. Averages more than 3 tackles a game and runs his ass off each week, not that you'd have noticed.

But anyway, I've no interest in making this a Darling v Ballantyne pissing contest any further, other to say that in terms of forwards who go missing against big sides... look in your own garden first.

Oh sorry there. I didnt notice. Yep he is as dominant as Nathan Fyfe in the Midfield. :thumbsu:

Eagles fans laugh their heads of about Freo choosing Jayden Pitt over Jack Darling, yet your mob chose brad sheppard over Nathan Fyfe.

Dont deny it. If Jack Darling was going to be traded for Nathan Fyfe I doubt any eagles fan would pass it up.

I dont see him run around out side the Eagles forward 50 too often. Zac Clarke makes a better tall forward than Darling. You should know as he kicked 3 goals vs An All Australian defender in Darren Glass.

Excellent Stats. Not one of those games Darling has Kicked 5 goals in any of those games you listed above.

Now go and give him a Buddy Contract worth 10 million over 9 years.:thumbsu:
 
/ hell there are lot of football philistines on BF. Darling is plying his trade as a quick marking forward on the end of the slowest ( in speed and ball movement ) midfield in the competition. The large, fast deck at Pattersons was assumed to be a strength for the Eagles leading into season 2013 but has proven quite the opposite. Now it's just a playground for various Eagles to play ring around the Rosie before bombing long into an overcrowded forward line. Try impacting the contest under those circumstances in attack up against blokes like McPharlin/Johnson/Lonegan/Gibson/Lake/Thompson etc. The expectation on young Darling is completely unrealistic in this team. Line him up at any of the current top 6 teams and you would see the star he is capable of being.

There's plenty of other eagles I could learn to like if they switched to us (well not plenty, but the rare few who would be good enough to get a game for us).

But not that guy. I have my reasons.
 
Darling after the first 6 -8 rounds i thought he was the best performed eagle player and worthy of all australian consideration. Now apparently according to the OP he has not delivered since his first year. lol, what a troll and deserves the appropriate disregard to a misinformed troll
