Darling's biggest problem is that he plays for the same team as JK, who is probably the most consistently good FF of the last few years.

I know I'm not allowed to discuss this being a meanypants Freo fan but I thought it was an interesting point to make. I would having thought have one less elite defender in his general vicinity would be beneficial if anything.

I know I'm not allowed to discuss this being a meanypants Freo fan but I thought it was an interesting point to make. I would having thought have one less elite defender in his general vicinity would be beneficial if anything.

Swings and roundabouts. Doesn't always get the best defender, can get separation but then doesn't get as much ball through him and the forwards can get in each other's way.

The one season he played without Kennedy (2012, his second year) he kicked 53. Jack Riewoldt kicked 70 in 24 games in 2018. He's kicked 54 in 31 since Tom Lynch arrived. Everyone knows what Jack Riewoldt can do, but playing in tandem with Lynch means his game has to change.

To be honest I didn't see 2018/19 coming and figured he was destined to fall short of his potential and 'just' be a 40-50 goal a year forward.
