Does this mean Mackinlay is going to be dropped or on the bench?

Especially with Bamert possibly taking the other wing off of Wehr.

I like the potential of a Lukosius and Bamert wing pairing.
I would play Mackinlay as a pure small forward. He seems to be quite dangerous around the goals.

As it was said by another poster playing Mackinlay as a small forward wouldn’t be the worst idea.
He’s pretty zippy around the forward line as we have seen.
Wouldn’t be our worst move by a long shot.

Luko has played 11 games out of a possible 34 games since he arrived at Alberton, and of those 11, definitely one and maybe two he got injured in the first few minutes of the game

For context, Orazio Fantasia played 15 games in his first season at Port and most consider him the most injury prone player to ever play AFL

This guy is a complete bust and will probably injure himself running through the banner

He had a broken knee cap form a collision injury for the largest chunk of that lol. Give the guy a break, he has had a bit of bad luck the last couple of years, it happens.

This would be valid if he had injury history at the Suns but he had zero. He was averaging something like 18 games a season which is pretty good for a KPF.

I know how to solve this problem. Even if we need to wear a little bit of the cost of his salary at another club.

Two second round picks is all I ask
With his output the last two years and Davies gone, if he'd been traded by GC to another club and they wanted two 2 rounders for him this trade period, we wouldn't bite. Even with a fair chunk of salary paid for. So no one else will. We either fire sale him for a second round pick (as a KPP he retains that much value) and still pay some of his salary, or we try to find a role that suits his strengths and helps the team.

Given he's been injured much of this year, I expect Josh wants to have a full year of him available to see if he can use him, before he can tell (with the evidence) the trade/recruiting (and likely board), that they have to suck up $200-$500k a year going out the door for a player not on our list for multiple years.

Annoying, because we took Orazio on knowing he was made of glass. We took Luko on having played 116 out of 129 at Gold Coast. That fractured knee cap is as unlucky as injuries come.

Thats the frustrating part. He had barely any injuries when he was at GC

Comes here, cops that nasty knee cap injury and since then he has been as fragile as a spider web

I really wanted Luko to become something better than he was at GC, but now he is worse than Jack Watts after swimming and boobs.

Luko to the wing is basically an open admission that the Wehr signing was a monumental **** up.

How do you come to this conclusion?

Internally, when they were putting together their list last off-season, the thinking was that Wehr was the direct replacement for Atkins. The intention at the time was to have a break glass in case of emergency type, who would help particularly at SANFL level.

The problem here imo has not been the signing, but signing him and then playing him when the team has had far better alternatives in that spot to select from.

Weird take.
Wehr is probably on base salary. Signing him for 3 years was excessive but if he spends the rest of his time here as a mature body helping young guys in the SANFL it's hardly a big deal.
Wehr still being regularly picked in the AFL squad and having a bloke on $1mil for 6 years who can't find a preferred spot in the 1sts are monumental **** ups.

I’d go along with Wehr being a break glass type player.
That makes sense, what doesn’t make sense is he’s been used as a starting player basically all year.
Posters might see him as a break glass type but our coaching group have seen it differently.
He was bought in by our coaching group to play on the wing.
That’s the way it is.

I was expecting more from wehr this season, but I also assumed he was on two years not three. Brodie and watkins getting two years isnt going to be a game changer but makes no sense. Evans, Marshall, Farrell, Lukosius...even rozee. These contracts are nuts.

Thin frame, no real weapons, doesn’t hit the scoreboard, can’t stick a tackle….but here’s 3 years. Another List clogger the Club could do without.

Brodie is an interesting one, played one game and that was it.
As I’ve seen him play a lot in Perth IMO he wasn’t up to being an AFL player but Carr had seen a lot of him while he was with Freo and decided to bring him in on the cheap.
If they are not going to play him they would have been better off getting some kid from a local league.
