The way our injury list is stacking up and our inabitlity to execute our new whizz bang game style we won't have to decide whether to tank for Dougie Cochrane anyway. The decision has been made for us. This year is a bust and if Butters leaves hope we can be competive soon walks out too. And I'm an optimist, I can't imagine how low our pessimistic mates are feeling.

Recent recruits:

Ratugolea - two longish-term injuries 2025 and 2026
BZT - long-term back injury early 2025, unable to capture form or fitness at start of 2026
Soldo - long-term knee injury 2026, after many previous disruptions from other injuries previous two years
Lukosius - misses 2/3 of 2025, and now at least 1/3 of 2026

What did they cost us again?

Thus far Jack Lukosius has managed just 11 games out of a possible 28 for us. If he is out for another 8 weeks that will be 11 from 35 with no guarantee that he won't get injured when he does come back. Geez what a great trade that was, Gold Coast must be laughing.

In one of the discussions after the match I mentioned that Luko should possibly running the water this week....turns out he can't even do that....

I wanted him dropped but never want to see our players injured. Pretty hard to redeem yourself if you can't string a few matches together.

Very frustrating that Lukosius and others don't present themselves in the best way possible to honour their contracts and play full football seasons. Injuries are often about bad luck, but poor preparation and conditioning is a big part of it too.

FWIW, I think it should make selection easier. If we're serious from now, BZT returns to the side as the second tall defender. Bergman and Jones work alongside BZT and Aliir to cover other marking tall forwards.

Marshall moves back to CHF.

Gold Coast was laughing when we agreed to give a first round pick for him.
