Can't remember those incidents but I don't care who the player is or their name.

If guilty they 2 should be out for a little while.

If all players are shocked into the reality do not touch the head or your are highly likely to be in trouble that is a good thing IMO and parents will play more kids!

You asked for examples of contact to the head that can be signed off. I gave two such examples.

I don't stand for mob rule!

I thought I made that clear?

The only thing you are making clear, is it is too hard to find another player, media person or ex player that is backing the Viney should be suspended line. C'Mon, you gave me Leigh Matthews and I haven't changed my ways, name another? You won't because there is none.

Not backing down until someone can put foundation into the opposite argument.

At the moment the opposers have not put forward a valid argument IMO

Yes they have- you just don't agree with them. A valid argument doesn't require your say so or agreement. Who do you think you are? It's either a brace with no other option or a conscious decision to bump.

You sound really arrogant dismissing everyone's opinion as not being valid just because you don't agree with it. People on both sides are making valid arguments. I happen to be on the side that he had no other option available to him other than to brace and prepare for contact and that if he is suspended it changes our game as this incident is different to others.

Not really I am not even trying.

But all you are promoting is AFL HQ represents nothing but a political body IMO!

Look if players are happy to sign off on acceptance its okay and relieve legal obligations of others from head contacts to them on field causing them whatever injury they can go for it. Its up to them!

You are easily the biggest try hard I have seen on Big Footy ever. You don't even make an argument, apart from things like What if he died? Seriously dude, how old are you? Did you stay home from school to argue this today? You really should of went, you're not going to get smarter skipping school to win an unwinnable battle.

If a player went up for a high flying mark, and kneed him in the head, there is absolutely nothing against that now is there? Do you want the mark banned too?

The high mark is supposed to be taken on a players back, shoulders or higher without hitting the head.

So if incompetent players can't put other players at risk its fine with me!

People have died playing footy?

What about Deisel and his memory loss and others?

That is what Drew Petrie read out today, that players put themselve into games knowing the risks involved. Tim Watson said that Jobe got smashed in the head a little while back, and he and Jobe understand that it just happens. Where are your examples?

Can someone arguing for Viney to be let off list when is it okay to contact a players head on field and sign off on it?

If Lynch died from the contact what then?

Most extreme sport activities have a disclaimer that participants must sign noting that it is a potentially dangerous activity and they take part at their own risk. This should be a part of every player's contract, I would be surprised if it wasn't.

Secondly, many sports have insurance to cover such accidents.

The nature of the game being a 360 degree sport that involves running means that collisions will always occur. Even if you try to outlaw it, they will still occur.

What if both Lynch and Viney both tried to avoid the contact by taking evasive action in the same direction and contact still occurred? What if Viney attempts to make evasive action but it is ineffective and he gets hurt instead? Or what if Viney attempts to make a sudden evasive action and does an ACL in the process?

This has nothing to do with my response to you so why quote me? As I said your arrogant agreement is not required for people's point of view to be valid.

As to your point above nearly everyone would be happy to sign off on accidents / incidents where the player had no other option, to be unpunished hence the majorities response to this decision.

I wouldn't have regarded AFL or Aussie rules an extreme sport.

Furthermore, if governing bodies and players get too reckless the insurance companies will not touch you apart from the general avoidance for claims

What has that got to do with anything. Player know the risks. They have heard the Diesel story, they put themselves out there, and know that there has been, and will be incidental contact that could hurt or in worse case kill them. If no one was prepared to do that, we would not have sport at all. No extreme Sport, nothing. Hell we should all give up driving, because there is a chance we die. Lets just wrap ourselves in a blanket and stay home, and argue on Big Footy all day. Not much risk in that.

If I played AFL I would be expected not to get hit in the head. If I felt illegitimately struck and affected, there goes the lawsuit. All part of the game . I have no issue going legal with meatheads that can't control themselves adequately!

Who did? You are as annoying as Brainy Smurf. You're wrong, plain and simple. Are you capable of saying so? No way never is the answer. Give me another name, so at least you have Leigh Matthews and someone else on your side. I have a list too long to list, it is EASILY the most one sided arguement in ANY conversation about ANYTHING I have ever seen. And you intrigue me, how you will argue so strongly against the masses, and not even give me names of other people that think your way.

You realise it is possible to play hard tough strong competitive, entertaining AFL with high flying marks, bumps, tackles etc... and not hit players in the head don't you?

You strike me as the type of person who'd sue the council for tripping yourself over in a parking lot.

Well why did the poster bring it up about exclusion clauses for mishaps?

No I wouldn't, but only because in reality, the political connections of the authorities would make my justice irrelevant, plus my cause wouldn't be sufficient and I am not a blood hound!

Extreme sport or not, the contracts should make clear that the onus is on the players. I mean, if you need to sign a waiver to drive a go-cart then surely you should for football.

In fact the AFL releases documents instructing football clubs about these waivers and how to enforce them - http://www.aflcommunityclub.com.au/...._Club_Management_Program/Risk_Management.pdf

Furthermore insurance does exist for both amateur and professional football clubs. They are covered by a group called JLT Sport - http://cdn.jlta.com.au/jltsport-afl/documents/Programme_Summary.pdf?201311010146

You are a twit. What are you talking about. You don't even go back to the message your arguing about, and re read to see if you didn't misunderstand it. I said and I quote "If no one was prepared to do that, we would not have sport at all. No extreme Sport, nothing". NO NORMAL SPORT, that is AFL, no Extreme sport. I have no idea what the sentence you put up regarding this means.
