I don't think the AFL are sanitising the game to appeal to Mums worried about their kids getting hurt

I think they are sanitising it because they are worried about litigations and law suits from former players after their bodies are stuffed post-retirement

It's not a valid excuse, but I just don't think they are doing it because of the former, like a lot of people seem to think

The MRP has indicated they would prefer players to squib contests if at all possible.

I don't understand it, we cannot allow players to be unsure if they should go for the ball because they might accidentally hurt their opponent while putting themselves in harms way also. It goes again every level of coaching, instinct, and the fundamental principles of the sport.

This is a worse decision than the Fyfe one, by a long, long way.
 
The fans are already voting with their feet and these sort of decisions only act to further alienate the fan base.
I support a fan boycott. Social media is a very powerful tool.
Give away your Foxtel subscription and don't watch footy on the idiot box and watch the next TV rights deal go backwards.
The AFL is a self licking ice cream that just melted on the pavement.

you are correct, it's all to do with money.

the rules and the suspension system (MRP, tribunal, whatever you want to call it) are just leaving everyone confused.

i just can't work out how viney can get suspended.

the unfortunate thing about our game is people will get hurt from time to time.
 
I thought it was amazing that former and current players got behind Ziebell when he got suspended and love it even more that they're showing it wasn't a one off and fighting for what they believe in. Well done for Tex, Riewoldt, Brereton and such for getting behind Viney.
