There are a lot of Watts threads going around at the moment but this one's very special.

Watts said he was honoured and privileged to be given the number, during a packed media conference at the Long Room at the MCG on Monday.

"I hope you can muster up all that you have within you over a long period and do exactly what the former wearer of this jumper, Norm Smith did," Barassi said.

I highly recommend the video of it as well. http://bigpondvideo.com/MelbourneTV/91772

The great Norm Smith, comon fellas you should now that. his coaching career has actually over shadowed his playing career a little bit, he was also a great player.

I can see it now. Packed MCG crowd, Grand Final podium...
"Number 4: Jack Watts!"

I can see it as well:

"Oh yes, great one Number 4 - you know he got the same number as that other previous MFC champion, you know, the one with all the talent"

"Ben Holland?"

"That's the one, god I love football and how it changes the universal perception of the handicapped".

Did anyone hear him on morning glory yesterday morning, i heard the replay last night. He sounds and speaks as if he is 27 not 17, Andy Maher said he had spoken to a Melbourne official on saturday after the draft and was told then when they (Melbourne) interviewed Watts and told him he was going number 1 he asked if he could help out obtaining a major sponsor by promoting the club or say anything at the press conference the next day.

What a legend of a kid, was not yet officaly a MFC player but was willing to help them out already.

He is probably already as good as Dutchy was toward the end of his career. Lets hope that Watt is more in the same league as Norm Smith than in the Brent Grgics, Chris Sullivans and Tony Campbells. I for one think he will be. :)
