Reading the article below it seems Jack has started of well at the Hawks kicking 4 goals in their internal trial. I think this one will really come back and hurt us considering we only got pick i think 27 for him in a compromised draft. I always rated Jack even prior to him playing games for us last year . I think he will be a Goddard type once he puts on a little more weight.

Here is the article

I had a Hawks fan rubbing this in my face this morning

But it's not like we delisted him, we wanted to keep him because he IS going to be a gun :(

But yes, it would've been nice for the club to get something more for him..but oh well, what's done is done, time to look forward and see the guns we have, get excited about them & forget about Jack.

What did melbourne get for thompson?

honselty, what do Hawthorn fans think they have over Crows fans?

the flog left the club in the lurch and picked a team he thought he could win a flag with.

hardly a vote for Hawthorn - but here's hoping all of the worst luck in the world to him

edit - also, please don't compare Scott Thompson to Gunston, you are talking an elite mid in the comp with a very good 2 or 3rd tall , there is no comparison.

It's only an internal trial. Wait until you see him do it against real opposition on a regular basis before getting too upset about it...and comparing him to Goddard? Wash your mouth out.

You could also argue that the draft pick Hawthorn gave us allowed us to use our other high picks to get deep into the trade with GWS, getting us Brown and Crouch. We may not have done this had we not gotten another first round pick from the Gunston trade. It could work out in our favour in the long run.

The club desperately wanted to keep Gunston but with only a couple of hours notice he jumped on a plane and fled back to mummy's arms in Melbourne. He wasn't coming back.

Once he nominated Hathorn as his club, we were hamstrung. We could never get his true value because there was no competition for him.

The club had to work hard to even get pick 24, their first pick, as the trade value.

Noble and crew did an outstanding job with this pick 24 once the Gunston deal was done.

Pick 24 was traded to the Gold Coast for picks 27 and 31.

Pick 27 went to St Kilda for Tom Lynch.

Pick 31 went to Essendon for Jenkins and pick 41.

Pick 41 was used in the national draft to get Grigg

Sooooo, the end result of all this was that we ended up getting 3 players - Lynch, Jenkins and Grigg - for Gunston.

While we never wanted to lose Gunston, onve ot was obvious that we were, the club did very well to work deals that maximised our return for him under the circumstances. :thumbsu:

Hang on...he kicked four goals against his own club?

HOLY CRAP NEXT MODRA!!!!

Hawthorn Vs Adelaide at the MCG in April, fire up lads!

27 was used on Kerridge.... it was really Lynch for Ivan.

Your point stands though they did make the best of a bad situation. I think thats been lost on alot of people... did anyone in the media actually pick up that we got two picks from the suns?

Wont be playing AFL past this contract. Bookmark it.

He reminds me of Fergus Watts. Mentally weak.

He would have to bring his security blanket to training for each session under training. Once he gets over novelty of having his mum iron his socks each day the expectation Clarko and the Hawthorn lads will have on him will eat him up and he will fade away.

Jack will be very very good. Unfortunately you can bookmark it!

I think he will play out the square with Buddy moving up the ground....
Jack has very sticky hands and is smart around goals...
Dont be surprised to see Jack with a premiership medallion around his neck this year...

Oh and the question regarding who is Rendells greatest picks so far...

1. Davis
2. Equally Otten and Gunston
3. Sloane ( said would be his greatest, but dirty that he didnt pick him up the year before with the late Kite pick.....

Mckernan is still up there! Be patient....;)

Why are we bothering with the act?

He's a gun, will be a star for 10 years and it is going to be painful watching him every week. We all know this.

He didn't leave because he's a mummy's boy. He left because we're shit and he had a chance to go to a good club. And that hurts.

The only way we can exorcise the demons is to win a flag before Hawthorn. Then we won't give a **** about Gunston.

Hey guys, just wanna say that I hate traitorous opportunistic pricks like him and Josh Gibson who turned their back on the club that drafted them without so much as a goodbye (both nominated Hawthorn while on end of season and pissed off to Waverley almost immediately) because they think they'll win a flag with that mob.

Good luck this season, I really hope Sanderson and Milburn will make a difference to your fortune in 2012 and beyond.

Ottens and Mooney were put on the trade table by Richmond and North respectively whereas Gunston and Gibson were very much required players.
