Jackson was fantastic in the 3rd quarter on Friday night after dropping a easy chest mark he played like a freakin champion hope he can do this more often

it really was a matchwinning performance. someone needed to stand up when the pies were getting on top and it was him. turned the game our way off his own boot. hope he can make it a career defining game.

When he dropped that mark I piffed my can at the wall... 20 minutes later I was cleaning up the beer thinking gee, he just swung the game back in our favour! Hope he keeps it up though.
I like the bit of agro he adds...

was surprised when he got dropped - would be very disappointed if he wasn't retained. he definitely has the spirit i want at our club.

that has been the thing which impressed me on the weekend - i finally saw the team spirit that a young st.kilda and geelong had when rebuilding.

toughness, players standing up for each other - thats what i want

jackson, king and connors being the mongrel

pattison is the heart

deldio the star

pettifer and edwards the barometer and team lifter

thursfield and mcguane the courage

don't make it a one off boys - we liked what you showed this week:thumbsu:

lol at him and Kingy giving Dale Thomas a good workover. :thumbsu:

Love the mongrel! :D

Certainly helped turn the game around. Maybe Greg Miller's project love-child really will deliver the goods.

what a master move!! thomas was cutting us appart but king outclassed him and even ran off him superbly! jacko gave me a few nervouse moments but also played a blindner!

Greg Miller has received a lot of critisism for picking blokes like Adam Pattison and Daniel Jackson, but it looks like he has made a few decisions that are coming good.

Was Miller responsible for finding Nathan Foley?

Quality post, this is the core of a successful team in the future.

thought king was brilliant - he was ass whipping any opponent he was on

His ability to kick long and quickly into the hot spot in the third quarter was elite. If you can break the lines and deliver with accuracy into a forward line that has Richo, Polak and Lids the defenders will always be on the back foot.
Jacko was giving the pies no time to flood back into defence.
He's a gem and I just so happy that he chose to improve this season and not next season at another club.
The dropped mark shows his character, he didnt get down on himself and look for someone else to fix the problem.

I think Wallace has wanted him to run and carry the ball but his great strength is grabbing the ball taking a couple of steps and banging it down accurately 60m. When he runs with the ball he seems to have too much time to think and then gets confused on his options. He is better off taking that first long option and moving it on quickly. He seems to make better decisions that way. I think he deserves to be kept on the list. He is a good size, has good pace and has done more than a couple of good jobs this year.

I have been at the front of the queue to bag Jacko in recent weeks after he was mercilessly flogged as a tagger 3 times in 3 weeks. When he spilt that mark which led directly to a goal I was up and abusing him, almost spilling my beer, almost. Not long after he threw himself headlong at the ball on the deck with several bearing down at pace in a pretty courageous act. It just resulted in a bounce but he came up with the ball, against the odds, got lots back pats and then seemed to grow a 3rd leg for the rest of the game. He hasnt quite managed it yet, but if he can repeat Fridays game he will keep my mouth shut for sure and I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong.

What is starting to happen at the club, which we all agreed was missing for a long time is the players making an effort to lift each other during games.

If players like Jacko will lift when team mates reward them with encouragment after they do a good football deed then it must continue.

A few of the younger blokes are really starting to come out of there shells, which is a great thing and hopefully speards through the rest of the list as the get more confiedence in themselves and each other.

I agree, reckon this is a sign that a lot of the boys get along pretty well. If there has been any upside to this season it is that we have never dropped our bundle on the track and there have been no stories of the players blueing with the coach.

Could be the time we all back and remember as the turning point for our club!

Well said, i was exactly the same!!
Nothing lifts a team like a guy putting his body on the line. Will Thursfield has done it, McGuane has done it and Foley does it week in week out.
Looking after your mate like this can only be a good thing for the club.

Hmmmm......grew another leg after being patted by his teammates, rather a "queer " thing to do.

(not that there's wrong with that)

Same here. Was so angry at him because every week something like that happens in a game. Good on him though to not go under his shell.

Hopefully he backs it up throughout the next 3 weeks. :thumbsu:

i reckon jackson rules will be pretty cocky if jacko plays like that week in and week out, he has had that nick since around 04. way to keep the faith brother :thumbsu:

noticed it starting to happen the week before to a much smaller extent, richo coming across and stepping between riewoldt and his opponent who was giving him a hard time (loved this) was a highlight. against the maggies though there was talk and backslaps the whole way through, it really lifts you as a supporter to see the guys working for eachother.
