I must admit I am also much more keen for Clarke than Trengove. Clark is the modern day ruckman who could rotate with Vickery in the forward line and can also play CHB.

Our first rounder + our compo pick...this guy is a gun and would mean we finally have a decent ruckman.

THen we can target mids and KPD in the draft/free agency.

Agree that he would fill the void more so than other choices.. How much we would have to give would be the problem ( as it always is )

Think our 1st rounder (pick 16ish) and our compo pick which will be early 20's next year and then maybe even a player. Clark is a proven gun ruckman and is only 23/24......don't even care if we overpay because I think having him ruck for us for the next 10 years will pay for itself.

I don't think it will. There are that many compo picks out there atm that will be used in this draft.

18 teams and then Geelong x 2, hawks ect....will be early 20's before we get a look.

Not all of them will get used in 2012. Also it's also based off ladder position so of all the teams who have a pick at the end of the 1st round will be after us if they are above us on the ladder (Geelong, Hawthorn, etc)

Would love for us to get Clark, am a huge fan, but don't think he's going to come cheap. Wouldn't mind us throwing compo pick + first rounder for him, we've shown how hard it is to draft a gun ruckman, even Vickery who was a top 10 pick turned out not to be a star ruckman even if he's been justified up forward.

No it's not, the 2012 draft is being touted as one of the greatest of all time, I would rather have 2 picks in 2012 where the talent pool will run very deep and have quality players all over the place whether they be Midfielder/KPF/KPD/Ruck.

This is exactly what I was thinking on Saturday at the game. We are still 2 drafts off I would think.

A more mature player who Vickery dead set flogged in the ruck just a couple of weeks back at crucial stages of the last quarter, is an AA potential ruckman we should give up two vital early draft picks for?

He couldn't get on top of McGuane, just 7 possessions, only managed three marks for the game while Reiwoldt and Vickery managed 8 and 9 at the other end from similar opportunities, he had only one hitout for the entire game against Vickery, Miller and Browne, even Miller managed to get three.

He has a lot of games like that amcre, too many for the kind of price you're talking IMO. Talented, no doubt, but even Vickery is already way more consistent in just his 2nd year.

I see your point but the position we r in with lack of depth of quality players i dought very much they would dare to go down that path .

Yep lets hold onto our compo pick if possible, imagine just being able to pull another late first rounder out of our arse next year, when the draft is supposed to be a blinder? We'll appreciate it then.

Also, can we forget about Mitch Clarke? Seriously, it's not going to happen. He wanted to go to Freo last year, and there's still Western Sydney to contend with, not to mention the possibility of him re-signing with Brisbane. We're behind AT LEAST Brisbane, Freo, GWS and probably West Coast for his services. And we don't have the cash or leadership opportunities to offer like GWS, nor the go home factor, nor the opportunity to actually stay and play alongside mates. What exactly do we have to offer that can trump all of this? I would suggest nothing. It's wishful thinking.
