Jade Rawlings New Assistant Coach

Just announced on SEN that the Tigers have signed Jade as Assistant Coach for the next 2 years. He replaces David Wheadon.

No doubt he will bring to our club some well-refined coaching expertise sourced from his experiences under Ken Judge, Peter Schwab, Donald McDonald, Peter Rohde and Laidley

For heaven's sake, with the Crows offering Hart only some crappy part-time job, surely we could have offered him something. I'm all for expanding our footy dept but frankly our assistants look pretty ordinary to me...

Rohan Smith, Creswell, Banfield (when he retires) - give me any of them over this journeyman (who's no doubt a nice bloke)

Hope he goes well of course, but not optimistic and would prefer someone with a reputation for hardness/ success

I'm all for giving someone a chance before I judge them, but this appointment doesn't exactly have me doing cartwheels (if I could do cartwheels that is).

I think Jade generally comes across as pretty intelligent (in contrast with say, a channel 10 special comments man). He's also got experience at 3 other clubs which gives him a broader understanding of coaching than many others.

Bit 50-50 about this appointment at this stage. Everyone you hear talk about seems to say what a great bloke he is so I'm sure he'll get a long well with the players, but personally I like to see coaches who are respected by the playing group but arent the best mate of the players.

he cant be that bad, or he wouldnt have been sighned for two years, hows about supporting the decision they make rather then criticise straight away, Wallace and Miller have been pretty spot on with most decisions so far so give it a chance

thats cool man, we all support it, but again, can someone confirm who his partner is? Me thinks there is just a teeny weeny conflict of interest type scenario a happening, if i am not mistaken.

copy that man, and the bonus for him is, that throughout his career he has developed a rock solid view on what a great coach isnt.
So he knows what not to do.
But we also hope that he doesnt follow in someone else's footsteps that came to the tiges with a similar CV.

I'm surprised by it. I never rated him much as a player, certainly not in the same league as Richo as a forward, don't know what he can teach Richo. Plus, the snoozer doesn't have any coaching experience. S'ppose the selection committee must have seen something in him. Time will tell.

hmmm for someone that can suggest others are idiots for giving their opinions, you sure to a top job of snapping up the idiot crown dude.
Like this pealer surely suggests that you are inept of thought, "Give him ago as Iam sure he would do good". So you are sure, because as you say he must be doing something right? Now from where i sit dude, the guy hasnt had time to do something right. All he has done is sit down and answer questions at an interview, that he was successful in that is going to give him a pay packet, just like Spud, Geish, Walls etc did, when they did something right back then too.
Now i am not sure he is the answer, but i am not sure if he isnt the answer too. All i look at is his CV, and right now, it has mediocre career plastered all over it. Lets hope this is another rabbit getting pulled out of the hat as well for TW. You see, its kind of no lose situation for the brains trust, when it comes to assistants and how they are upping the development factor isnt it? Lets say he doesnt measure up, and gets showm the exit door, who is going to give a Rats, when we are focused on the team on the field? no one.

ok, after sussing out roo mates, the goss from them is that whatever was your opinion about him on the field, he is touted as having a pretty good footy brain, the word was, you will be very surprised.

I heard on SEN yesterday (someone from Nth was talking to them, cant remeber who) but they were saying Jade is one person who lives and breathes football. Players would ask him about opposition rookies or first gamers and he would know everything about them. Apperently, he is an extremely smart footballer.

The same person also went on to say that he would make a brilliant assistant coach and the team that gets him will be very lucky.
