He will be unrestricted at the end of this year I believe.
If so, North can't do anything about it and it doesn't matter what they think of us:p

I don't think we really want to start playing that game to be perfectly honest - one you get a reputation for being pricks at the trade table it tends to stick with you for years. The price I was referring to though is more what we have to pay for him (ie. higher demand = fatter contract), not what we'd have to give them in return.

It depends where Reid, Marsh and Moore all are at come the end of the season.

Right now I am happy with Brown and Frost as our KPD's... Its arguable how much of an upgrade Carlisle would be on either of those guys. If Reid gets back to health/form, then i would have him as the 3rd tall defender... And I dont think we have a need for Carlisle (partucularly at the suggested rate).

But if Reid doesnt recover, and/or if Brown has more injury issues then we would clearly have room for someone. (unless Marsh steps up when given the opportunity, or Moore doesnt get transitioned into a forward).

As others have said, until the WADA case is done, i would be very reluctant to offer much, both in terms of trade and salary.

Have you seen those ruckmen play? Cause if you have you have your answer.

So based on your logic they currently have a bevy of so-so ruckman and thus will obviously be falling over themselves to trade for another one?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Witts as much as the next guy and think he has solid potential, but let's not get carried away here and start thinking he's the saviour or anything when it comes to assessing his trade value.

I have a feeling that we have been signing up all of our players really early this year and even cementing in players like DeGoey and Moore for the next 4 years because we are locking down our salary cap for the future because we will be getting a high priced recruit at the end of this year.

Someone like Jake at 700k a year doesn’t really fit that theory. I think it's someone worth over a million a year.

I think Collingwood have already locked that players in.

I think that player is Dangerfield.

Im not convinced yet that Danger will leave adelaide, or that theres any reason he would prefer us over Geelong (except for $), but if the price is not too extravagent, it would be great for you to be right.

Though i do agree with your assessment of our approach to the salary cap.

The key is that he's more likely to be the saviour than anyone they have, and at a much better age (ie. less than 40 years old).

Could be a great player if he was ever played in position by his drug riddled coach.

Would be a welcome CHB and Reidy (if he ever actually plays again) can be a swing man, but predominantly up forward.

We wouldn't be anywhere near the trade table - I hardly think North could start getting pissy about us signing someone who was a free agent.

What do you suggest? We just throw in a draft pick so that North will be our friends? The AFL compensates for free agent loss, not us.

North have managed Nick Dal Santo, Shaun Higgins and Jarrad Waite out of free agency - I'd doubt they could complain when they eventually lose a free agent.

I think Carlisle would be certainly getable at 700k, but with the so called room, I reckon a Dixon or someone like that would be better. Danger won't come to us.

I highly Doubt Dixon would leave QLD.

Plus we don’t want someone who get’s pissed night before a Game

If seen Giles play and he should be getting a game ahead of Carlisle IMO.

I agree that Hurley would be a much better target than Carlisle. Unfortunately to get a player as good as Hurley, we would have to give up a player like Sidebottom. I'm not sure that it's worth going after Hurley if it means losing a player like Sidebottom.

Giles had 1 good season. Carlisle up forward is ridiculous though, I don't understand why they refuse to switch him and Hurley. But hey, no one claimed Hird was ever a good coach.

It'll be funny if he leaves Essendon. Here they have a 23 year old Key Position Defender (a very good one as well) who they are desperate to turn into a forward to accommodate a 40 year old backman who is well and truly past his prime.

Bring it up with Essendon supporters, you'll get a good laugh.

You'd think a number of clubs would go after him. Brisbane, Carlton, Fremantle, St Kilda to name a few that would be seeking the services of a KPD in his early to mid 20's.

I think I'd rather have a forward who can kick.....so I'd go Charlie Dixon before Jakey C. Plus with Swanny still at the club....he can teach Charlie how to party properly.

You would make him a KPD so you can send Reid and Moore Forward

Dixon might just need the right environment - and our guys are building the right culture.

Glad we did not go after this Dickhead.

Just had to see what he did during the Off-Season and then 1 Year Suspension.

Saints gave away Pick 5 for Nothing:straining:
