Looks like lions are going to improve too. Was impressed with their discipline when in possession against us. Control the ball, control the game

Yep they have a young talented list with a good (with a great smile) coach, will be interesting to watch

Dogs have set the blueprint on how to play, hard and fast, they were great to watch

Stringer has the X factor, can kick out on the full, can snatch a goal to get you out of your chair. Don't underestimate the X factor when a side is struggling. Good sides have them.

Yep he does, hard to quantify but he is one of those players you go how'd he do that!

huge year for stringer after a disappointing 2016. he was lucky to play in the gf.

We had no one fit to take his place that would add anything close to him.

The next one in line was Jong and I would have preferred to play one short than have him turning the ball over constantly and basically sucking it up.

you're probably right but he was going at 50% for the last 10 weeks of 2016.

He did carry hip/groin injuries throughout the 2nd half of the year, and well as a shoulder injury requiring surgery. Expect him to kick 50 goals again this year, being free of off field drama that was present last year too. He looked fully fit for the first time since 2015.

I'm all about peace and love since the Dogs won the flag so I'll say this about Membrey - if the Swans had passed on Tippett they could have kept Membrey and Mumford. They'd likely have another cup in the cabinet if they did.

All up I'd rather Stringer for his versatility but the Saints got a steal.

It used to shit me no end when Geelong supporters, drunk off years of success, would say they'd be happy to bomb out of finals and see the Dogs win it. I now join the ranks of these intolerable smug w***ers and say I'd be thrilled to see the Saints or Dees win it.

That post was Feb 2016. So yes.
Well I'd say it's pretty difficult to become an AA for the second season in a row while dealing with injury, birth of your second daughter and being split up with your partner. But that's just my opinion.

His last two weeks have been jut like 2015, really impacting on games. Thursday was fantastic - 26 disposals and 4 goals, playing more midfield time than he had before. If he keeps this up, he will be a top 20 player in no time.

Losing his exceptional talent my arse.

I think Stringer can be a bit hard done by. His forward defensive pressure is nuts and he did enough small things in the prelim to warrant a grand final spot I would have thought.

He can be such a dangerous player. He also gets a lot of attention from other teams that allow other players to roam around more freely. Personally I think he is immense and if Bulldogs wanted to give him up I would jump for joy if the cats got him.

Can we just win 1 more before wanting the Dees or Saints to break their duck?

Can't comment on Membery as I haven't followed him closely but has some decent art going.

As for Stringer poor season in 2016 in parts. His numbers wernt that bad but his impact seems less than 2015. Was very hot-and-cold and by the end us Bulldogs supporters were living in hope that he would fire. Goal accuracy at 40% didn't help. Hopefully his private life is less of a distraction this year and he can go bang

I think Stringer is definitely playing better this season than last year. 19.16 in 8 games while playing in a variety of roles including in the midfield. Also has been very unselfish and has passed a lot of his goals off. Would love to see him continue to play one out leading from the square as he did on the weekend.

I think he cops a lot of criticism due to the way he carries on like a flog after he kicks a goal. But you can't deny that when he's on, he's one of the most dangerous players in the competition. If we can get him back to his best, we will be a more damaging team than what we were in 2016. Kicking 5 on the weekend (should have been 6-7) is a good platform to build on.

Killed us on Saturday. Although he did have absolutely sublime supply from a midfield that was relatively untouched all day.

I still think he's fairly overrated (is he really even rated highly anymore? I'm not sure) but he's still one of them players that can go nuts on his day.

Seems to play his best footy as the sole target inside 50 imo, just like in 2015 and on the weekend

Was it? I feel like the Saints had the better of the contest (no Libba, Bont up forward etc) but were just cut to ribbons in transition.

He did receive it on the lead an awful lot more than normal.
