Adelaide hasn't focussed on drafting SA players in ages, as a result they are now in the minority on our senior list (and have been for several years). Adelaide seem to mostly focus on drafting from SA and Vic Country. We have relatively few draftees from WA & Vic Metro. Most of the decent players from the northern states go through the Academy system, so we rarely draft from those states either.
I can understand not drafting Vic Metro players. I'm not sure why Adelaide is so reluctant to draft players from WA.
Agreed. There would be some massive pros to recruiting interstate players also. I think they'd grow stronger bonds with teammates because they're isolated from family and friends. They'd have more spare time to spend with teammates (eg. movies, bingo nights, drinking, croquet clubbing).
SA players like Riley Knight would still spend a large percentage of their spare time hanging out with his school mates and family.
