My point was he doesnt fill a need. We have a stack of good mids not playing right now, and 2 on the injury list. Is he better than Grigg or Lyons ?? Not right now but chances are he will be of course. But that still leaves Crouch x2 and Kerridge not in the team that he would be behind. We can't have more than one area of dire need? [emoji102]

SA not so strong this year but Phillips is a gun coach...viccountry will win the champs....best 2 mids from them that suit us tucker and parish will be gone by our pick... Northern states academies will snaffle their best (nsw kids the strongest so gws and Sydney will get those ) SA has tahana but he is small a defensive mid or shut down small /medium like luke brown and we have plenty of those .... Getting aish with out first pick and a swap of 2nd and 3rd rounds with Brisbane would be a massive winQuestion for those draft minded folk. At this early stage who are the best mids in this draft year and are any of them SA lads.
Love to have Aish but is there anything in our system worth looking at
Sorry what area of dire need does Aish fill?
If you say outside run/speed I'm going to laugh at you...because he sure hasnt been playing like that type of player for Brisbane and hes not that fast.
We missed 2 years of drafting properly. His age profile along with his actual football fill a dire need. You are painting him as an above average footballer, and he's shown that he's a class above that. He'd improve our side immediately.
I'm not advocating spending 2 1st round picks on him. Clearly a 1st rounder plus a sweetner is what we'd offer.

Ah so we're picking him because of his age?
I mean the age profile thing makes sense, but you dont forgo a possible better opportunity because of 1 or 2 years age differnce in 1 of your 44 players.
This could be our next 'Pavlich' moment. Here we have a young gun SA footballer who wants out of his club, do we back ourselves in at the draft and watch him go on or do we this time have a massive go and get him home.
He wont be as good as Pav, not many have been but the premise remains. Also given our club losing out in bidding wars in recent times we have to make a stand. This off season will be the first real test of how far we've come.
Im all for getting him, thats not the question. The question is how much.
Comfortably better than both.My point was he doesnt fill a need. We have a stack of good mids not playing right now, and 2 on the injury list. Is he better than Grigg or Lyons ?? Prob don't need to over pay if he's keen to cone home and if he nominates us as his club of choice it further enhancesThis.
The asking price + intense competition means we'd have to overpay.
Not paying premium prices for an average footballer.
No objection to not paying premium prices for an average player. Aish is not an average player. The price I have quoted (1st pick + sweetener) is completely fair for a player of his quality.This.

There won't be a war, isn't that what you're saying?I say we start a bidding war and let him go to the highest bidder.
I'm really not following your logic hereThis.

Why is there intense competition and high asking price for an average footballer?
There'd only be intense competition if you're wrong about him.
So was Battersby at the end of last year.Because hes young and available...
Average footballers move all the time...and often have multiple suitors.
Our second rounder will be locked out of the equation before trade week even begins. Ben Keays - academy player.
I'd personally prefer the kids we have them Black or VickeryProb don't need to over pay if he's keen to cone home and if he nominates us as his club of choice it further enhances
Brisbane will be keen on trading in a key fwd with
our pick , maybe an Aaron black or a vickery and they will want something else as well
Yes I am assuming he will cement his spot, did you need to ask that?So you're assuming that Aish will cement his spot in the team?
We can fit him in, but whether we want to is another question.
Also if you think he'd be on the same money as Lyons etc after paying a first round pick and possibly more...you're kidding yourself.
You need to stop, you are hurting my eyesBecause hes young and available...

Yep let's do it. Let's get pav. This could be our next 'Pavlich' moment. Here we have a young gun SA footballer who wants out of his club, do we back ourselves in at the draft and watch him go on or do we this time have a massive go and get him home.

I think SA's only chance of having a player go in the top 10 this time is KPF Ryan Burton, can't really see any outstanding SA midfielders likely to go 1st round, one pacey midfielder worth a look could be Luke Partington probably go late 1st round or even 2nd round.Question for those draft minded folk. At this early stage who are the best mids in this draft year and are any of them SA lads.
