Jamison was soundly beaten. End of story. As for those calling it a Dawson -esque embarrassment, not to that degree... I surely never said it was.

So you get through blowing all that hot air, only to agree with my original post.

You didn't say it was a Dawson-esqe drubbing........but the poster who this was drected at did.

Here's what I wrote as clearly you missed it the first time, and clearly have been too lazy to go back and understand:

Keep in mind the claim isn't that Jammo beat him, just that to compare it to Zac Dawson on Rocca is stupid, ridiculous, and unintelligent.

Secondly, while my system was crude without weighting any aspects at all, it was based on one fundamental.......the objective of each player in the contest.

In each contest the objective of Richo was to mark, or take possession and kick either on goal or to a teammate.
The objective of Jammison was to spoil the marking attempt, or to tackle Richo and stop him from kicking at goal or to a teammate.
Based on this my scores as win or lost contest was fair.

Yes, its basic and crude, but that's how I scored it, and FOR THE SAKE OF THE COMPARISON TO DAWSON IT DID ITS JOB.

FFS I wish you'd actually read the whole post before wasting our time.

Jamison did alright on Richo I thought, but the fact remains that he still got 4 goals kicked on him while he was Richardson's direct opponent. A FBs job is not only to spoil and win contests (as well as provide drive out of defence as a bonus), but the prime job is to:

a) Stop the forward from kicking goals.
b) Minimising the forward's influence on a match.

Considering his inexperience and the size difference, he didn't do too badly so I agree with BB in that respect. Give him more time and he'll start outmarking guys like that.

jamo didnt win the contest and i dont believe it could be called a tight contest either. nothing against jamo, i think he is great and i definately want him in the team each week, but it was rocca-dawson esque IMO because jamo should not have been left on richo, its not jamo's fault

i watched the game twice. whats wrong with giving just an opinion anyway? im not going to go through it as u have and im not looking for an arguement but it seems that u may be. whats the point? we all view the contest differently why consistently have a go at differing opinions?

Worth noting David Parking believes playing Jammo on richo was a mistake and the irish man Sentanta should've played on him. Sentanta is a player in the making, has great athletisim (dont know how to spell it alright!), and is taller and more developed physically to cope with the big forwards.

Im dissapointed his been dropped this week as I think his our best option for Loyd.

Don't get me wrong I think Jammo will be a good player and he'll always give 110% but at the moment they should just leave sentanta at fullback and let him develop there. I still wouldnt mind seeing jammo in the side but against the bigger guys like richo, Loyd, Gtrain, etc thats a no no.

And i voted for richo beating jammo in case u were wondering.

I am such a computer dud that I had no idea that BB had moved this debate to another thread, so seeing as though I started it (elsewhere) I think that it is appropriate that I finish it.

At seeing BB's contest by contest analysis - I with an ego that obviously nearly matches his, wasted a chunk of my life and commented on every one of his often laughable accounts. I say EGO (is a dirty word) as why else would he distort the truth? We are Carlton supporters - we can handle the truth Jack
I however really outdid my previous computer incompetence and somehow lost it all - F^&%!!!!!!

BB says the kid beat Richo 15/11 in contests - gosh it is tempting for a compulsive like me to do that analysis all over again but if you want a laugh just watch it again with BB's analysis in hand. A part of me thinks it is great that he is so one-eyed.

I promise you mostly sane supporters that the 25th ranked player of the round and BOG clearly thrashed the 341st ranked (out of 352) but after watching the game for a third time and marvelling at BB's amazing colourisation, I do think that Jammo plays a little bit better every time I watch it LOL

When judging whether it is DawsonRoccaesque dont even worry about the similar rankings and stats, this was first and foremost DawsonRoccaesque for the fact that the coach's of the kids threw them to old wolves - creating mismatches in the order of hundreds of games and a couple of stone, mismatches that they pretty much refused to correct during the course of the game.

Gotta say it can work sometimes however, look at the enemy's Brown boy - but he is a very big boy

The reason I started a new thread was quite obvious. There is a poll to allow others to judge for themselves. No-one, including yourself has offerred a differring account of those contests.

Sorry if I see a spoil as a win to the defender, or Jammo tackling Richo and causing an ineffective disposal a win..........just my lack of footy knowledge I guess.

Anyway, rather than piss on, we can just scroll up, point to the scoreboard and walk away.

You can keep running at me in a "Lloyd at Setanata" type fashion (ref round 3 last year, 30 sec into second Q for Lloyds embarrassing display),
but the FACT is that nearly 60% of people that have voted here disagree with you...........gee there I go again manipulating stats to suit myself.

We are never going to agree. I see many similaities to the Dawson/Rocca contest and you dont.

In the poll 9 clearly agree with me even though you added the emotive 'rag doll' description and 6 clearly agree with you but I suppose you will want to add the ones in the middle ground to your score - fair enuf mate, that is how you set it up.

A fairer poll of course would have only had two alternatives. If I had posted the poll I might have had:
YES/NO - did you see any similarities to the Dawson/Rocca contest.
(the dictionary does after all define -esque as resembling)

I admit I have made a bit of an out there claim (off the cuff I must say, so I will try not to upset people in the future but I still stand by it)

Can I suggest if we ever feel like locking horns again why dont you just debate it with me or suggest a poll with equal input. I am sorry I was too computer illiterate to realize the debate had moved threads but it didn't really matter as I was away for the week and it looks like it provoked a bit of interest.

Clearly I've locked horns with one of the greats on BF, and obviously, despite over 75% disagreeing with you, my poor ego is in tatters........(BTW the public poll means we can see who votes........mostly Tiges fans agreeing with you.)

Still I'm not doing too bad.........I'll pick myself up for the next round..........get my bottom lip off the floor........and who knows, maybe I'll think better of taking you on in the future.
