Perhaps I’m a bit late to the party because I’ve never really paid much attention to the story when it happened but some of the new jan 6th footage is alarming ….. those people are really messed up …. Calling everyone pedophiles, traitors, socialist c*nts and even threatening to kill people over loud speaker

ETA: I wondered why there were so many January 6 references on my Twitter feed, then I realised the date in the US today. Lots of reminders of the horrific acts that occurred. And they claimed it was all for Trump.

Which is why a lot of posters are fearful if Trump wins again , the usa and lot of the world would be stuffed. Usa would isolate again , pull out if Nato , trade agreements , suck up to vlad and xi , go after political and non political foes
 
One thing I know for sure is that a bunch of boomers and autists meandering around the capitol is a far bigger threat to democracy than removing the leading opposition candidate from ballots and locking them up. Don't want to become like Russia!

I never left m8, I just tend to get a bit cheeky and mischievous and find myself in bigfooty time-out a fair bit these days. I keep tabs on the important threads and I must say, as an intellectual and a father figure to many on SRP, I'm extremely dissapointed in you all.

As always m8, the bloke who tried to overturn a democratic election via asks of state reps to "find" votes, pressuring of his VP to ignore the constitution and fake elector schemes is the threat to democracy.

I’d be more worried if you were impressed by anything on the political part of SRP (there are some other interesting convos though eg discussing whether people should get access to voluntary assisted dying for mental health issues which are insoluble)

Well you're entitled to your opinion that the US admin can lock up (or otherwise prevent from running) the opposition candidate. But as an anti fascist I simply can't agree with you on that one.

even if the opposition candidate broke the law set for eligibility? which is why it goes to the court
FWIW I don't think he will be kept off the ballot

It will not be the US Admin that prevents a candidate from running.
It would be the US Constitution.
The same people who argue the Constitution is carved in stone and can only be interpreted one way, will now either have to eat humble pie, or expose themselves for the hypocrites that they are.
