Most players have a defensive side. At least more than Jared. Kicking on both feet isnt that rare either.

I reckon if we really wanted to keep him we’d pony up more cash and a longer contract. But I reckon the club has decided it’s prepared to let him go for a top 10 pick so we can get nuts deep into this draft.
I’m not really all that fussed either way. Yes, he had a career best year, but there’s no guarantees he won’t follow that up with a relatively poor one, like so many of our “career best year” players seem to do.
I’m a little excited to see what we can draft with that pick to be honest. I like Polec, and he’s had a great year. But he’s as prone to a stinker game as anyone, and his one-sidedness is getting worked out by the competition. Maybe this year was peak Polec. Time will tell.
Anyway, the decision is out of our hands. And those saying Amon will be played in his role next year, Amon more than likely won’t be on the list in 2019.

I’m wary of any player that has the word “only” in front of anything good, because I’m always wondering why. In 2014 he sure as shit wasn’t the only anything on our team, because everyone worked together.

I’ve simply pointed out that thinking you’re going to get a guy in the draft who is speedy can kick on both legs and defensive is unrealistic as it simply either doesn’t exist or is extremely rare.

The closest I can think of is Gavin wanganeen. Zach Merrett for example is a great player, speedy and can kick. Poor defensively. Which is alright because he is damaging. As I said your expectation of the type of player you can pick up in the draft is wishful thinking.

Having a defensive side is hardly a rare, special quality.

Legspeed is, obviously. Kicking on both feet is a good quality but not that rare either. Few players are as one-sided as Polec.

Go back and watch that 2014 elimination final highlights, play on, quick ball movement and everybody was given the license to run, and everybody was on board. Everything we did back then was game-plan driven/coached, everything we do now is game-plan driven/coached, we have achieved nothing changing our gameplan so what was the point in changing too much at all?

I can tell you one thing, if Ken leaves the club one day without a premiership cup I can tell you he won't go back and watch highlights of the 2018 season, he will watch the video I just did and wonder why he tried to be too clever by half?

It's a complete ****-up and hopefully, they realise that over the summer, I doubt he will acknowledge too much in the media, too stubborn.

The club from KT down would be feeling the heat at the moment, all their hard work is slowly unravelling, even down to Kens resigning, if they have another year where we miss finals they may as well give up.

Were not losing Polec because we have Rockliff, we will lose Polec because we’re not prepared to match norths 5 year offer in light of north having a freakish amount of free money thanks to the underpay/overpay salary cap rule quirk and the fact they’re a no frills team. By that I mean they really don’t have superstars and some of their best players like Higgins they bought in cheap.

Me personally I would try to come as close as I could to keeping him without going north crazy but the club not wanting to give Polec a big money 5 year deal knowing that he can sometimes be lazy when lacking motivation is hardly a big deal.

Polec must be very hard to coach. More of an instinct and natural talent player rather than a 'trust in the system' kind've guy. Bet he gives Bass an absolute heart attack. If he was in any way coachable we'd be giving him exactly what he wants. Or maybe he just isn't in the clique...

Cheap receives? Pad stats?

The whole point is to get the ball back to our best ball users when they are in a better position and in clear space so they can deliver the ball inside 50. However, you don’t boost your meters gained stat that way - it only ticks over with distance kicked and distance ran with the ball.

Why did we never see Polec and Motlop having a good game together and really carving up?
