Welcome!

I base my like for Preuss, on seeing him play approx 3 quarters of 2nds football.
If he had a good ruck coach, I think he could be a regular AFL ruckman.
He is the right age, size, seems mobile enough.

Thanks, well I can say he wouldn't cost you guys much in the way of a trade. Good luck, hope you can land him. I'm not really all over the Port list, is there really a need for the big fella?

When Ryder goes down our ruckmen who are ruckman first (Hayes, Frampton, Ladhams) have a combined total of 0 AFL games experiences. Preuss would be incredibly handy, particularly with Ryder being at the twilight of his career.

So... Polec and a third rounder for Norths first and Preuss?
Seem ruckman are at premium again this year, especially at Port, that wouldn't fly at North. Last year, trade value wise, it would probably be spot on.

Trying to actually attract a player is at a premium at Norf this year also.

By all reports Preuss can’t even run out a game at VFL level. His trade value is a third rounder at best.

Happy with Lycett for free though while we scoop up a top 10 pick for Polec.

Smells like bullshit to me. He ran games out fine when he was selected previously.

Take it from a person that has watched North's VFL side a lot this year, his tank issues are exaggerated as he is being compared to a guy like Goldstein. He would be worth a third last year; this year, a mid to late second due to the semi-revival of the ruckman and their increased demand.

You guys would be better off with Lycett anyway as he's more proven.

Lycett and a spare like Fort from Central Districts hanging around in the SANFL in case Ryder and Lycett have issues and Port no longer has a ruck problem.

Polecat is easy. Norths 1st and shuffle a pick or two next year. Our 1st for yours? [emoji6]

Bingo, picking out a roughie in terms of ruck depth works quite well, as long as you develop ok, which Port has been better than some clubs at. Plus it would be cheaper for Port to use someone like Lycett and Fort, they are only meant to be depth.

Unlike a few of my fellow North posters, I'm quite happy to hand over a first and a later points based pick shuffle for Polec, he fulfills a great need and would make up if North don't get Gaff (Apparently Hall has agreed to come to North too). If Atley gets thrown in, then that changes a little and you guys should be compensated fairly.

I expect this deal to be done fairly easily considering how well both clubs handled the Thomas trade and the late pick swap last year.

If we end up with both Lycett and Ryder on our list and both get injured I'd rather give Hayes a game instead of Fort.

Absolutely but Hayes is still a long way to go to be fit and sound. Fort in the SANFL for 12 months is reasonable insurance.

Can Preuss play forward? If he can’t there is 0 reason to go after him. Needs to be someone who can share forward duties with Paddy next year and Hayes in the future.
Somewhat, he's a good contested mark and a thumping kick (his set-shots aren't terrible, but they aren't great), but he doesn't play forward a lot at VFL level. When he does, we just pluck him in the goal square and he just monsters defenders. In summary, largely unproven up-forward.

He leads the VFL hit outs by nearly 200, but that'll need double checking.
