This current side is pathetic compared to 2004.

Polec can do whatever he likes but that has nothing to do with everyone at Alberton being happy to see him come back for a coffee straight away. He can leave amicably but once he joins a new club, that's his home.
I disagree with others that the 2004 team had more talent, nah they didn't have more talent but boy did they have more hunger and hated losing a whole lot more more.
I was only just watching open Mike last night and they had Anthony Stevens on there and they recalled the time they beat Port in Round 1 in 2002 at Football Park, which was the first game since the Carey saga, there was a shot as the siren sounded and i can't recall who exactly but one of the Port players booted the ball away in absolute disgust. Furious about losing.
History suggests that we went on to win 18 of our next 21 to win the minor premiership, didn't get there in finals but i'd take that over the 7th - 10th spot we are likely to finish this year.
The graveyard is full of people who were irreplaceable.Anyone that says that Polec is 'easily replaceable' loses my respect for their football knowledge.

Most aren't saying EASILY replaceable, but he is in fact replaceable.

It has been on afl.com.au but they are not reporting that he is leaving, just that a huge offer has been made. Comments on twitter but 95% of them are from people who like to pretend they're in the know and wouldn't have a clue. I'd like to know the percentage correctness of speculations on twitter, even from official sources. I suspect it's around 10%. The only tweets that can be believed are the confirmation ones, like the AFL tweets on MRO decisions. Is it still just ch7, i.e home of elspeth, smithson and co. reporting that he's leaving?
What is The Trade Shouter shouting about this?
What part of there is a trade period to come are people not understanding?
You asked for it.
They could get Gaff for that sort of coin now and leave us the hell alone.
We of little faith. That’s what we have becomeMotlop Rockliff and Watts all looked better at their previous clubs imo..
I have no confidence bringing in big $$ recruits like Gaff, he will turn into a slow Plodder in a Port guernsey with 50% TOG.
I agree. It would hurt a bit but we aren’t low lives like the club across the road.im really getting quite pissed at people, some (although few) on here and most on like facebook etc having shots at polec for leaving.
the kid would be silly not to get that sorta cash while he can.
he has proclaimed nothing but love for us, played his guts out especially this year, and doesnt really want to leave.
The lure of money is to much for the young guy. good on him, get it while he can!
Would be welcome back to the port rooms anytime!
I'd love to see Bonner on the wing if Polec was to leave. It would eliminate some of his defensive vulnerability which seems to bother him sometimes.
Assuming we have Hammer, Brogs, McKenzie back for round one next year, we still have plenty of half backs to cover Bonner's current role.

With someone. With who? Barry? Amon? Piss off.
While elite athletes get some special dispensation with regard to income tax given their short earnings window - is bringing forward a massive annual salary such as the one million in first year of the deal for Polec actually good? FishingRick04 ?
Personally, I would prefer to see Hammer or even Broadbent on a wing. Bonner I would like to see back in the SANFL to work on his defensive side.
