What I find tough is Rockliff Motlop Watts Boak are all on more money than Polec. I would leave too if that what my employer thought of me
Rocky and Mots may well be but I doubt Boak and Watts are but like you I'm just guessing.

Ideally we draft a key forward who is more strongly built than Marshall but has natural forward craft and instincts, and a skillful, composed high-possession winning mid.

You can add Lienert to the defender mix as well - he’s started his career very solidly.

We really need to make Lycett (or at worst Preuss, even though I haven’t been following his fortunes) a priority. Preferably Lycett as he can play a bit forward.

I'm all for getting Lycett but not at big money. He's an above average ruckman but that's all. If we have to pay $600K+ per year that would be a bad move.

I don't know but I'd be absolutely flawed if Boak is our highest paid player which is what I think your suggesting.

Last time he signed a contract he was one of the top few mids in the AFL

I want him out at the moment. I think I’m ready for him to leave and the club can announce that we’re in rebuild mode, drop the next two games, trade out Polly, S Gray, Amon, Neade, Pittarc etc. and leave the rest of the backline in, give Frampton a go and maybe try to bring in Hall. I would also advocate for Ollie to become captain and move Boak out. Robbie and Westy stay for obvious reasons, easy.

Rockliff maybe, Motlop doubtful. our offer should come up to be more that what Motlop is on. If lose Polec because they offer him less then Motlop that is unforgivable.

Watts is partly paid by Melb so what we pay him will defiantly be less. And Boak im sure he would be, he is the captain whos last contact extension was after Back to Back AA berths, his contract runs out next year so we should have room to give Polly extra in 2020-

Take the money and run to the hills Jared. We can't win with you in the side so we may as well find someone who can make a difference.

Love what you bring and maybe at North you will make a difference.

Looks like we will have back to back first round picks in this draft.

We probably wont be a genuine flag threat until well after Polly retires, so take the money and go to a team that at least plays some exciting football.

Look, I'm a Polec fanboi but now I want as many high picks in this SuperDraft as we can get, go get 'em Ports, thx Jared, bye...

He would be on 850 plus

Remember the Geelong posse coming to town

Probably 900 plus

That was 6 years ago, he's been through 2 contracts since Geelong came knocking.

The sort of funny but sort of not thing about trading Polec to North is that their first round pick may end up being after ours. I have them winning 2 of their final 3 and scraping into the 8, while we lose our last 2 matches and miss. We'll probably have a pick between 8 and 10, while theirs will be around pick 11.

Do you really want a captain that isn’t capable yet of standing up in big games?

Guy that collects and kicks the balls out in the first warm up before the run out was talking to one of his mates in the seats at the northern end. Said Polec is gone and Lycett likely to come. I couldn't see an official Ports badge though.

If there was ever a year to trade Polec it's now. Get a first round pick in a super draft where there is plenty of SA lads at the top. Both Rozee and Rankine can play on the wing imagine the money we'd save.

Saints will look to move their pick 3 pick for more picks because after that their next is a pick in the 4th round. Could trade our 1st next year + our 1st this year and our 2nd round for their 3rd it'd still leave us with North 1st round and saints 2nd round. Add in Lycett (which by reports is very likely) as a free agent and that's a good offseason.

Polec is a great player but will he be the same next year? We've been ripped off far to much where we end up playing big money on a long term and it back fires straight away. This time let's get something while we can get value.

We have been too safe with keeping players.
Our past history of offering long contracts to hold off players leaving has not worked well.
Lobbe speaks for itself,
Hartlett has worked into a very good HBF player but we passed on potentially two first round picks for him when his position is the only one we have decent depth to cover.
Pittard last year had decent offers on the table but was a free agent so only gave up a compo pick
Then accepting bargain basement offers for the likes of young, ah Chee et al when we hold them to long.

Might be a needed shake up to the players a bit to show that we are capable of moving on a decent player and aren't going to continue to bend over backwards to keep all the boys happy and comfortable.
The idea that keeping polec might allow us to jag a flag in the next one or two years is pretty optimistic. We have been waiting 4 years now for this team to "just click". It ain't happening based on history, it's the players and/or the coach that are the problem. Repeatedly been in a position to win important games and found a way to lose. It's mental and you can see it seep into the way new players play once they have 10 games under the belt and go into playing safe to hold their spot and lose the excitement they bring in the first few games.
For once roll the dice and sell high
