In response to the Bombers fan who said to chuck him in as a Mooney type, we have guys like Tom McNamara, Dunn, Gawn, Fitzpatrick, etc who could do the role as well as Neagle.

This is worth discussing is it?

OP should be red carded.

Sorry for starting a thread that discusses an obviously talented player, who could fill a very obvious need for us, and who would come to us for virtually nothing. I wonder how many people have actually seen him play more than in just some highlights on the news??

What's to say our development coaches couldn't shake the lethargy out of the boy and put some intensity and urgency into his game? I hope the club, unlike some of you blokes, isn't discounting anything at this time of year.

Ok then, totally serious. Just wasn't sure why you didn't delete BS's post and then quote it so everyone else knew what not to do.

Still believe in Santa too? Easter bunny perhaps? We had and have better options in Danny Hughes and Newton. Nuff said! We DO NOT need a tall forward. We have enough talent in our forward line already.

Well, the FD obviously disagree with you. (See their pitch to get David Hale during trade week, and possibly Jack Anthony during the draft.)

Are you seriously saying that Newton is a talented option?

Too all you knob jockey's that teed up on me. Actually read what I said! NEVER did I say Newton and Hughes were talented! NEVER.What I said was they were better options. Suffice as to say what has happened to those two now. And I will say it again. We do not need a Neagle, Hale, Anthony, Thorp or whatever else washed up reject is up for grabs. We can kick enough goals with Green, Petterd, Jurrah, Wonna, Dunn, Watts etc and provide enough mismatches to cause enough headaches. We have come along so far in devoloping our kids, lets not just 'bog' up here and 'patch up there.

From a grammatical perspective, your post was very amusing.

With regards to your point about us not needing a key forward. Actually read what I said in my post. Dean Bailey obviously disagrees with you. He wants one. And just quietly, I think he has more say in the matter than you.

Firstly, we dont have Hughes. Secondly Newton is not a better option than ANYONE!

Thirdly you said we dont need another tall forward - wrong again.

I think the calibre of players ie. Thorp, Anthony, Neagle, Hale,we have not secured prior to the up coming drafts, is a testament to what our Football Department think they are worth. If Bailey thought they were going to be worth anything to our team, he would have thrown a lot more money at any one of them you'd think. And yes Captain Obvious, Dean Bailey has more of a say in the matter than I do. But opinions are like a***holes. Everyone has one. And I'm just showing you mine. And if we pick up a dud like Neagle and co. We'd be no better than Carlton picking up players from a wooden spooner team. Or a pre 2009 Fremantle.

Shall I say it again slowly? Had Hughes. Have Newton. Secondly. Sarcasm is obviously lost on you ie. Newton. I think haemaroids are a better option than Newton, closely followed by Neagle, then Anthony and so on.

I actually agree with you to a certain extent. I don't see the need to draft/trade for a player just because he plays in a spot that is a need for us, especially if he is not much chop. I'm just pointing out that Bailey would like to secure a big, strong KPF who could provide support to the rest of our talented forward line group and a focal point for players when they are under duress in the midfield.

I would suggest that you go easy with the sarcasm that you have aimed at some of your fellow Dee's supporters though. We are on the same side.

Ha! Sorry - I did wonder if you were being sarcastic. I withdraw my criticism and say fair post to you Pecker.

In all seriousness given the number of selections we will have in the RD i'd be happy to take a look at him him for 12 months on the rookie list.

Might be the kick he needs.

In a way I agree, but he's got the kick now with Hird saying there is a rookie spot for him if his next month or so is up to scratch. If he can't produce what is required in the next month to stay at Essendon then why would he come to us and do it.

Agreed. But I'd be happy to have a look if he's still there at our 5th (i think our last) rookie selection.

Chances of picking up a young kid that late that will ever get a look in at senior selection is pretty slim. Neagle was/is good enough to play at the highest level and maybe someone like a Todd Viney might just be able to help him get his body to where it needs to be.

Although I don't rate him at all I don't have any problem if the club do and want to draft him with a 4th-5th rounder in the rookie draft. There is really nothing to lose if they see something in him and it's not like Brad Miller is going to be at FF at Casey to hold young players opportunities back.

If however we get a couple of tall forwards early in the main draft we need to be careful about selecting too many (even long shot) talls in the rookie draft as they can't all play in the VFL 1's.
