Ok, good to know about Scotson.

Anyone know if we will see more of Hatherley this year?
Only had 39 race days last year.
Was promising to start the year.

Hes world champion in XC mtb and think they would have discussed this when signing him that mtb likely stays his main goal. This issue is the calenders tend to clash in the middle of the season.

In the transfers it quietly says that he's "in" from his XC team. Makes me wonder if he's now committing to road.

Apparently signing Dries De Pooter from Intermarche Wanty, 23 years old. Had a first and second at the Tour de Kyushu in Japan and finished 7th overall. Getting a few Belgians on the roster for the first time since Jens Keukeleire in 2015, the only other Belgian to represent the organisation

Suspect that we're gonna sit on 28 and see what else shakes out from that merger and the Arkea fold. Guys like Senechal, Venturini, Rota, Lazkano are still without a contract due to folds, mergers or in the latter's case no room left at RBH.

I wasn't familiar with Finlay Pickering. 22 year old climber who has come over from Bahrain.
He looks pretty promising though.

2025.
3 x top 10 finishes in the Vuelta including a major mountain top finish from the peloton.
Won the KOM in Tour of the Alps
Finished 13th in the Tour De Suisse GC

Be interesting to see whether he can take his career to the next level.

I wonder how many of our 7 Aussies will do the Nats and then one or both of the TDU and CEGORR. I doubt Bling does it this year but if he's slowing down next year he might. So:

Nats (expect all to do both RR and ITT): Durbridge, Plapp, O'Connor, Porter, McKenzie, O'Brien
TDU: O'Connor, Plapp, Durbridge, McKenzie, O'Brien, Schmid, Capiot
SCC/CEGORR: Schmid, Plapp, Durbridge, McKenzie, O'Brien, Porter, Capiot

Capiot is capable in a sprint finish for both races and is a one day specialist, but zero issues if we use De Pooter or Krijnsen instead. Bling would be well suited to all the parcourse's if he were to come out though.

The TDU team is Porter,O'connor, Plapp, Durbridge, Mckenzie, O'Brien and Schmid. A couple of disappointed Europeans wanted to do the race.

It must be hard finding the balance of
1. Results
2. Keep all riders happy
3. Keep sponsors/owners with specific vested interests happy.
4. Develop youngsters in the team.

Biggest race of Mackenzies career.
You’d think that some others on the team would have been in a better position to win a stage on a hilly course. Foldager? Capiot as mentioned.

Interesting that there is zero news about AlUla tour despite race 6 weeks away. On the race website they’ve just got highlights of last year.

Been upgraded to a 2.pro race so more points on offer this year. I imagine the sponsors would have been disappointed by last years results. Hopefully can find a win somewhere in there.

At least one more European will have to fly over to be the reserve for the TDU (and likely be in the one day races), last year it was Hellemose. De Pretto I feel would be handy in the SCC and CEGORR

Hatherly will ride for GC and Ackermann for the sprints.

Porter hasn't raced for a year, big ask if he does the whole summer. They'll use Surf Coast to give Will Holmes a race, Appleton is in the women's race.
I don't think he races SCC or CEGORR. They probably have him an option of which one he wanted. BOC probably the other one to skip those 2.

I think Jayco would be hoping that Double and Hatherley can place highly / win GC for the Alula tour.
Only Higuita and Christen named as other GC contenders.
Most teams built around their sprinters.

Second in TDU is a big result. 485 points from Schmid and BOC in the GC. If Schmid has a good CEGORR that's really important after a poor Champs.

... and they did it despite Plapp proving that he's the dumbest cyclist in the entire peloton - choosing to chase back onto the lead group while fully loaded with bidons, rather than ride back to the peloton where his thirsty teammates were waiting for the drinks he was carrying.

Schmid picked up another 45 UCI points for top 10 places in 2 stages also.

A few other Jayco cycles were at 1.1 races in Spain
3rd Gran Premio Castellón - Ruta de la Cerámica
Michael Matthews won the race - Another 125 UCI points
Vendraeme 6th - 45 points

42nd Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana - Gran Premi València (1.1)
Capiot 6th - 40 points
Donaldson 7th - 35 points

If they can get a good result in the CEGORR you would think they'd be pretty happy with their start to the year.

Mulubrhan, Vermaerke, Dunbar and De Bod shouldn't be underestimated either. Both should be aiming for top 5 though.
The nats course suits Bling. Why hasn't he come over? He obviously had good form to win yesterday. Seems strange
Doesn't interest him. He backs the team to get a good result.

It's quite funny. BOC has to be one of the best Bike IQ riders Australia's ever had and then you have their second best GC rider being, well, Plapp.

They'd have been aiming for 1200+ points between the Aussie summer and this, so a good SCC and CEGORR will get them over that mark.

Had an enjoyable experience on the ground for the men and women's TDU. Its a well organised and supported race. Pretty good weekend for jayco with nearly 800 UCI points. They'll be hoping for a top 10 in Cadel's race, while they should do well in the Alula Tour on GC. Its obvious that they are racing for points by stacking the top 10.

Well Vermaerke, Dunbar and Double are effectively out of GC after losing 7+ minutes on a flat stage 2. Must have been echelons.

Thankfully Hatherley still in amongst it.

Thoughts on Jayco plans moving forward;
Sprinters - Chase Groves return, De Lie?
GC - Hindley return?
Classics & one day races - seems the team targeted riders towards this for this season and looks solid so far

Ackerman is a better sprinter than what a lot of teams have. They don't have the budget for anybody on medium or above salary unless money gets freed up by a transfer.

You probably should listen to the Pat Eddy interview on the domestiques podcast. BOC lost Greenedge the nationals jersey, not Plapp.
One mistake. He proved Bike IQ in his multiple GT stage wins and how he finished 2nd in the world's 2 years ago.

They'll get there you would think.
