Persistent rumblings this week in the media that Jesse is set for showdown talks next week with his manager, his family and the Melbourne Football Club.

After the year he's endured he may request a trade back to WA to be closer to family and support his mother. Both Fremantle and West Coast set to pounce should he request a trade.

How many years are we gonna have this rumour?
This week, particularly in WA, there has been a lot of press that he's going to have a sit down net week with his manager and the club. After losing his father and being diagnosed with testicular cancer, if ever there was a time to want to move back home to be closer to family you'd think this would be the year.

Easiest possible way for it to happen is a three way involving Lever who apparently is going to Melbourne.

I think that this had encouraged the rumours. Freo has a top 5 pick, Crows have Lever, Dees have Hogan. I'm not saying it would be a straight swap but it's a pretty good starting point.

First things first of course is that Jesse wants to come and that the Dees would let a contracted Jesse go.

Still unlikely but it costs nothing to dream.

Agree.

I could see something like:

Freo: In Hogan, Out Pick 5
Adelaide: In Pick 5, Out Lever, Pick 36
Melbourne: In Lever, Pick 36, Out Hogan

Equates Lever to approximately pick 10

That's if anything is to happen this year.

I'd bite your hand off for that but I don't see Freo getting him that cheap.

It's a start.
Melbourne are about even.

Fremantle giving up too little and the Crows not receiving enough.

Freo : gain Hogan
Lose pick 5,40, and Balic

Melb: gain Lever, Balic and 40
: lose Hogan and 27

Crows: gain picks 5, 27
: lose Lever

Even still, Crows will need more.

That looks about right but Freo may need to give a bit more than 40 to Melbourne.

Pfft, Freo would be laughing with the deals proposed so far. More likely Freo would need to give up pick 5 and a future first and get something back that would net them Wilson.

Freo: Give pick 5, future first. Receive Hogan + pick they can use on Wilson
Adelaide: Give Lever, get future first + Melbs first, give this years 1st/next years second rounder to Freo that will satisfy GWS for Wilson
Melbourne: Give Hogan, this year's first. Receive Lever, pick 5

WELL COLOUR ME SURPRISED WA MEDIA PEDDLING STORIES ABOUT WA PLAYERS COMING HOME

Last year the WA media was CONVINCED he would come home yet he signed an extension. His mother moved to Melbourne this year and it would make zero sense for us to be trading watts if Jesse is also on the way out.

A contracted Jesse Hogan is worth considerably more than pick 5. He is a proven AFL quality KPF who you can build a side around for the next decade.

Why does he have to be set for "showdown" talks? Can't anything happen without scandal and drama?

Everyone knows his situation, and if he wants to return to Perth it (a) won't come as a complete shock and (b) won't be handled by Hogan and his manager throwing toys out the cot, Gary Ablett stylez.

If Hogan does go Melbourne won't get satisfactory compensation. He's 22 and has two 40+ goal seasons under his belt already. They also paid picks 3 & 14 to get him (plus change). The sort of return Melbourne would be happy with isn't feasible, so it's really a case of making the best of a bad situation.

If it happens it'll likely be something like Dangerfield or Judd etc. with a combination of an early pick and a player or similar, perhaps an early pick and a future early pick a la Treloar depending on what Freo/WC have to offer. If Hogan picked us the Dees would be even more fecked because our first pick is 13.
