We have plenty of options, just depends on if they're fit enough in Walsh, Spangher and Pyke. for White's spot.

Everitt didn't stand up, but he still at least showed some desperation at the ball when not spoiling his own team mates.[/QUOTE]

Do you mean that passage of play where 4 players (2 swans, 2 tiges) were attacking a contested ball, 3 of them went for the ball while the fourth peeled away from the contest hoping their teammate would get it for him. The tiges won the contested ball and moved it forward while Everitt was busy running the wrong way towards our goal

sums him up as a player really

This season, indeed.

BUT, White is 3 years older, hence longer in the system.
Has played in 25 more games to date,
Showed his most promising form a couple of years ago, and most importantly
Seems to have stagnated in his development.

Reid on the other hand is a 20-year old that displayed truckloads last year,
Is getting next to no support up forward at the moment, and
Will benefit in his development as a 2nd year player through continued opprtounity (see Jetta, Lewis)

Oh I agree, just hard to draw a line sometimes. Should give everyone a fair go, if they're deserving. TDL to get a full game this weekend please! And bring back Pyke!

I was at the game and he didn't look like an AFL footballer. Pyke would be better off in the team. I'd love to see Walsh in there but I honestly don't know much about his form etc etc.

White has had the opportunity. We can't give him anymore! Can we?

in defence of jesse, he was playing pretty good before he got dropped, even horse said this.. he didnt derserve to go out of the side but lrt came back in for the adelaide game (i think) so that probly upset his momentum a little.. the whole team bar a few players had a crap day on saturday. i know hes seriously running out of chances but i hope hes in the side this week again.

I agree. I am the first to admit that this had to be White's watershed year but because he has been on the list for 5 years and we are looking for him to stand up (and rightly so) does not mean he is going to have a breakout game where he takes 15 marks, snags 6 majors and gets 40 hitouts,a patch of solid form over a 5-6 week period where it is obvious he is heading in the right direction is what we should expect and be buoyed by. That first stepping stone was evident in the North game where his ruckwork was good,he took a couple of contested grabs and most importantly got in there threw his weight around and showed a bit of presence. He even took the tackler on a couple of times and tried to use his obvious athleticisim to advantage. If you take this into account he was done no favours by being ommitted for the Hawthorn game.Regardless if it was for team balance, structure or opposition matchups he should not have been dropped. It was a step in the right direction all be it a small one and he should have been given another week to try and take another step forward.Match committee cant have their cake and eat it too.You either want him to develop and persevere after he takes a step forward or put a line through him and hang him on past convictions. Confidence is a massive factor in player development and after Saturdays debacle where he was no orphan, his would be pretty low.

I say persevere with him for another couple of weeks and if he is going to hang himself he will. If he is solid this week then give him another week and so on.Experience aside White offers more than Seaby as he can actually jump and at least give mids a chance at first use.

Big problem with Reid and White is their leading and lack of footy smarts. I know that they get the best defenders but wasn't it a breath of fresh air to see TDL come on and take 3 or 4 marks in the forward 50 simply because he led to the right spots? Whatever his weaknesses he is a natural forward and neither Reid nor White are smart enough to double around and get clear. I can't see our current spluttering forward line kicking goals without Goodesy. I can even see us losing to Melbourne after our lack of intensity against the Tigers! Let Reid and White pick up their act in the reserves and bring in someone who can take a grab (Pyke) and someone who knows where to lead (Morton). And keep TDL there!

There seems to be a bit of hate for Seaby going around. Maybe I've just forgotten what it's like to have a good ruckman, but I thought he's stepped in rather well. Obviously not a patch on Mumford, but as a backup he's been OK as far as I'm concerned. Still a much better contributor than White.

Seaby has to go. Tired and not effective. Barely wobbled through the 50m freebie.

Last week he lost the HO 27 to 44, this week lost 18 to 28 against a guy rucking on his own and with a splendiferous mullet.

Pyke is a fantastic tap ruckmen, is hard around the stoppages and is quicker.... He has done his time, give him a run. What harm could it do? If LRT is fit ruck him or white as backup just to maintain some experience.

I have no hate for Seaby. He was actually pretty good for the first 5 rounds. But the last two games he's looked out on his feet. He just needs a rest. Bring in Pyke, give Seaby a week off. If Mumford is training, then let them play in the 2s together, and share the load. Give them both 1/2 games, so Mumford gets some fitness up, and Seaby gets a bit of a rest.

I don't think Seaby's ever been the same since he broke his ankle. Before then, we'd won 5 in a row and he looked tremendous.

White seemed to be primarily used as the relief ruck in the second half V Richmond.
Don't have any stats on it, and I must admit it wasn't something I watched closely, but after Grundy switched forward I got the sense that White was mainly either in the ruck or on the pine.

If that was the case then I'd be surprised if we persevere with him this week. These days, with only the 3 interchange players, the coaches must trust you to be more than simply a backup ruck.

If indeed they don't think he can fill that forward role as well, then I'd expect Pyke or LRT to come in.

White (and Reid) would have had better games if TDL started. We all knew using him as a sub was stupid, yet it still happened.

Start TDL and it will have a domino effect.

Definately no hate, but he seems to be wearing down and fast, we would of been deep in it if the seaby trade went through.

i think Seaby has been pretty good actually. His only problem is that we have Mumford who is an exceptional competitor, & the one player he is being compared to. The sub rule has also hurt Seaby & in turn the Swans because it would have been a great combination for us.

Severe leg injuries often take players two years to get back to their best. If left to play regularly, he will get better soon enough I think.

Whether we like it or not Mumford hasn't been available much over the last few weeks & will miss for a few more still so thank our lucky stars we have him as a backup. I know many will laugh at that comment but facts are, Pike probably would struggle as a main ruckman. As a backup he'd be ok.

I say cut Seaby some slack because there were other reasons we lost against Richmond. Remember, against Freo Sandilands smashed us in the ruck contests but our midfielders stood up by roving off his ruck work.

I'm not having it. He has been smashed on hitouts only beating 1 ruckman in 5 games (Macintosh). You can't have that from a number 1 ruckmen on the ground week in week out. And he has never been known for his around the ground work.

Maybe our midfielders shouldn't have to be sharking the oppositions taps 60% of the time every week. Maybe then they'd have an even playing field to perform better and help out the side?

He has become tired over the past few weeks. Pyke has rucked on his own at AFL level with a backup before. He's in form. Roll the dice is all I'm saying.

By no means was Seaby solely to blame for the loss Saturday but with all due respect the bloke is as flat at as a
shit carters hat !!! He cant jump, is lumbering around the ground with the mobility of a draught horse and isnt taking a contested mark. His energy levels look to be severely tested. You are correct in saying that his failure to get the upper hand at the tapouts is hampering the midfields chances of getting first use. Sharking opposition tapouts at AFL level in todays game is nigh on impossible as teams are so well drilled at their stoppages.Even if you go man on man and try and read the oppisition ruckmans hand it is a massive task to read where the designated target is as your opposition has the momentum to be at the spot first and get first use.It is the number 1 rule for all midfielders to be on the move at stoppages. Best you can hope for is to put pressure on the reciever and force a turnover or secondary stoppage. You have the odd win but sharking a dominant ruckmans taps for an effective clearance are pretty rare. Nothing against Seaby but he needs a spell and nothing to lose by trying Pyke this week against Melbourne.

^^ lol at the draught horse line.. im not sure what hed do if he plays against nic nat from west coast.. i like seabs but maybe he hasnt had the same spring/mobility since his ankle injury in 2010 as somebody mentioned earlier.

Yeah i agree i think he was really going well before he hurt that ankle and i was pleasantly surprised with his form when he first come to the club because he never ever looked likely at West Coast. I like him and think he is pretty honest with his effort but he is just not up to it at the moment playing in a position that has so much influence over the teams overall performance. Give him a spell, get Pyke in and say 10 Hail Marys every night that Mumford gets back in the next couple of weeks.

It's good to see Pyke getting a go.

The sooner we all see how incapable he is outside of ruck contests (apart from the odd fluke mark) the sooner he'll be delisted.

Gee we need Mummy fit.
