Bet you weren't saying that when Danielle Wells got her 50m penalty off Duncan though.

Yeh I was as a matter of fact. From where I was sitting it looked like DW went to play on...but I wasnt on the ground to hear what the Umpire said...I thought Duncan was unlucky.

Its Daniel FWIW.

Gun player. The man you would want with the ball in his hands in any big game.

Funny you should raise that considering that Selwood had a problem in the first half and had to go down to the rooms for treatment, after which he then proceeded to have an impact on the game.

Selwood actually did have relatively decent stats in the first half. But really, when the game was there to be won and there was legitimate pressure on the Roos, they couldn't handle it. Cats gave Roos room to do was they pleased in the first half. Chris Scott even said after the game, "I thought we actually helped them in the first half".

The rain actually assisted North Melbourne in the end. If the game was clean, the amount of inside 50s Geelong had suggests we'd have piled on more goals. Either that or the Roos can only play on a perfect track.

We saw the same thing last week when Roos played the Pies. When the good sides turn the screws, the Roos just aren't up to it.

I'd be more inclined to give credit to the consistent elite performers throughout the match rather than the mediocre performer who just happened to be marched to the goal line in the final moments of the game.

North fans are understandably grumpy this morning, but their team blew a 41 point lead mid way through the game. No point complaining about umpires, rain or roofs being closed. North had Geelong by the proverbials and lost their grip on the game. The Bartel 50 was there, it is every day of the week. North have had two close losses and they will beat Sydney next week. Geelong on the other hand cannot continue this run of poor starts which plagued them last season.
Yep north shouldn't have lost! Shows the cats character. Chappy was great. Jimmy does what jimmy does. Travvy has added what you guys lacked last year with his pace and silk.

Not sure how to check, but I remember checking the stats at the end of the first quarter and being surprised to see Selwood with something like 3 touches. Thought he got most of his possessions after half time (as did Geelong...)

I recall seeing him at the top of fantasy stats at half time for the Cats.

His ability to lay 11 tackles in the final moments of the game was pretty impressive too. He must have been laying a tackle every 7 seconds or so. What a cameo.

I think this is more due to the phenomenon in which we tend to remember the last few minutes of a close game as being all-important and as a result overlooking the efforts made earlier in the game, even the more substantial ones.

Shock horror, the turncoat troll has popped up in a thread about Bartel
Now wait for Podgey to drag some figures out of his arse

Bartel is close to the most overrated player in the AFL.

Hasn't been in an AA side since 2008 & didn't even finish top 5 in Geelong's B&F in a year they finished 7th.

Still bitter & twisted over Jimmy's match winning point v Hawks. Was that game 2, 3 or 6?

If my judgement was down to bitterness at Hawthorn Geelong games I'd be bitter at Tom Hawkins rather than Bartel. I mean Tom Hawkins has carved Hawthorn up a few times, including in a final, and after the siren.

That's a bit harsh. They guy has been a gun for a bloody long time now.
Triple premiership player & Brownlow medalist. Doesn't always have a role that will net him 30 possessions but he does what's required to get his team a win. Would have loved him at the Pies.

May be overrated in your blinkered eyes. But when it comes to finals football and the big games, I'd pick Jimmy over almost anyone first.

Milked a nice free kick by diving forward yesterday. Really ruined an exciting game.
Well that made up for the dubious 50 m awarded to Wells minutes earlier.

Cat were going to win the game any way and should have won by 6 goals.

3 x Premierships
1 x Brownlow
1 x Norm Smith
2 x AA

These stats suggest you're up against it my friend. Overrated compared to your average Ablett perhaps?

You found my grammatical error
Well done mr policeman!
No your error was saying that meter is the same as metre.
One is a device used to measure water usage. One is 100cm. There is no overlap on these in the english language.

Had a broken bone in his foot for most of last year...

Hilariously terrible post. 2 stars.

Bartel is a real fan's footballer IMHO. Doesn't get 35 cheap possessions, but inevitably has a say in the result. Used as a Mr Fix It now by Chris Scott, who can rely on him to play any role other than ruck as required.
