steele flew past koby in that 2nd half. we've found one i reckon

No surprise there, Steele has the potential to be an A grader but with so many gun youngsters at GWS he was pushed to the fringes like Bruce was.

Koby struggled to get a game for West Coast and the Bulldogs even when they were average so I don't know why we picked him up, waste of a list spot imo.

It was only a rabble, but that was some beautiful footy. Steele is best 22, Billings will arrive this season, Paddy is set to make a mark too. Bruce was a beast. Liked Long's half, think he's gone past Lonie/Wright already.
Webster more impressive than DMac, if monty doesn't get up for R1.
Koby really doesn't do it for me, but still solid depth to have fighting for the 22.
Acres was ok, but didn't do enough for a round 1 spot.

I've had people on here laugh at me when I suggest that Steele is just as good if not a better prospect than Acres.

Pretty confident in my call at the moment.

acres is overhyped and i think you might be onto something

i think the issue with acres is in between positions. he's not quite a HBF, not quite a HFF, not quite an inside mid and he's not quite an outside mid and he cant play key position.

so when you get someone like steele who's contested game is a lot stronger and is around the same size as acres it makes you realise how big the flaws are in acres game

i just dont know what we do with acres. i think we need to decide on what position he plays and he either makes it or not in that position

So both us and the Dreamons have smashed the Blues. We've won by a bigger margin but looks like Carlton fielded a stronger side last week.

Man, Round 1 is going to be huge. Hope we come away with the 4 points.

Ultimately, though, we beat a VFL team really. Carlton were bottom 4 and had 5-6 of their best 22 missing today. So, it's more about our game style that you can comment about. Good to see our ball movement was a little more measured today. Not just blazing away randomly but actually trying to find some targets. Loved our intent around the ball as well. Carlton went with a very young team and we wanted to hurt them. They were getting absolutely smashed in tackles!

He goes back to sandy and looks for 30 a game until he gets his chance.
Im not a hater of Acres. He's defiantly got serious flaws in his game right now. Doesnt look hungry enough either.

he's the complete opposite of steele. steele doesnt seem to mind the physical stuff where as acres doesnt look interested in it, he wants to be all silk when he's not a classy player

acres asset is his size and mobility. if he doesnt start to recognise that size and use it then he's going to find himself in some serious strife. we have blokes much smaller than him who play taller than he does

He didn't struggle for a spot at the Bulldogs. He was best 22 and got injured, from memory couldn't run for about a month, lost fitness and found it hard to keep up after that. We got him because we have had bog average midfield depth, who was there to replace Dunstan for the last few rounds last year after he did his shoulder? We got him for peanuts, would much rather Koby than pick 60 odd. He has shown he can perform at the highest level (check his early season form last year). We were average in tight in the midfield contest last year. Koby offers great depth and if he plays like he did when fit last year he's a red hot crack at getting a lot of time in the best 22.

Depth is not a bad thing.

I hope nobody downplays the fact it's pre-season. What we did today was really impressive. Some of our ball movement was extremely good. Four quarter dominance there.
