Bowden scored 41 in SC against Carlton last year. Don't know why everyone thinks he will have a blinder against the Blues, especially with his pre season form.

Because he is a stat whore and Carlton are the most unaccountable football side in the competition.

That was under Pagan.

All I'm saying is he scored 41 last year in the same Match, was Round 1 as well ;)

Heard a rumour he injured his ankle or knee at training.
Can anyone confirm this?

Negative. You should have Gilbee AND Bowden.

I've got Shaw, Cornes, Milburn and Bowden in my backline. Unfortunately I couldn't spare any more cash for Gilbee.

I think the 4 I've mentioned will rack up more points the Gilbee anyways

sen gave me thought for concern 2nit saying he wont get much of it becuase they r changing the way they play

looks like bowden could be playing in the forward line do you reckon he will be as good at supercoach still?

If he is pushed up forward i dont think it will last long and will be back down back soon enough

He isn't in my team but with a few bad scores im sure i could get him there

bowden has to get 120+ to keep his price and i dont see him doing that in the forward line, but richmond have too much confidence at the moment and could use a 80pt beating to put bowden back in his place

Bowden will be back playing off the half-back flank. Carlton offer no serious threat up forward and there was no good match-up for him down back so they gave him the day off.

Most sensible post in this thread. :thumbsu:
For those that were knocking Boden as a player, fair go. Dual All-Australian and stalwart for the Tigers. Love him or hate him he's a good player. We've got plenty of spuds you can have a crack at. Leave the good ones alone.

No1s having a crack at bowden, hes a sc gun and has been a very good player for richmond. Just saying that richmond have too much confidence right now and are trying new things with bowden.

That point is well made, and I agree.

A few people have taken the opportunity of this thread to say Bowden's great for SC but a dud player. Clearly the types of people who don't ever actually watch the footy.

do i keep bowden(RICH) and hope he comes good OR do i trade Lake(WB) and hope he comes good or do i trade both for the likes of MUNDY NICOSKI MATTNER and ROUGHEAD?

if u say i keep and lose one which midfielder should i upgrade?

MIDS- C Cornes, Thomas(COLL), Cooney, Goodwin, Stevens, Coughlan,(i have palmer as emergency)

thx in advance

Go ahead and trade guys you've paid more than $600k for. Please. It helps the rest of us out.

On FC last night Richmond assistant coach Steven King indicated that if it was up to him he would drop Joel Bowden and basically indicated that he was a useless bastard cause you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

This tells me that they're trying to force him into a new role but watching the Collingwood vs Richmond game he would prefer to play in his traditional back pocket come half back flank role.

This concerns me a little. Obviously I'm not going to drop him but touch wood I hope he doesn't turn into the Barry Hall of 2008. He hasn't cracked 100 yet this year (pre-season or regular season) and while he's getting enough of the ball he is just struggling, both on the field and on the SC scoreboard.

Something to keep an eye on for sure.

I was tossing up between Bowden or H.Shaw. I think that was one of the few right moves I made.

He doesn't look good at all this year. I'm sure the team has been directed by Wallace to get the ball on a bit quicker then they were last year which means is 100 lateral kicks per game won't be happening this year, hence his poor SC form.

What David King knows about footy could fill a thimble. Bowden's first three scores in SC last year were 41, 92, 82. Followed by only two games under 100 for the rest of the year (86, 66). Jettison him at your own peril.

Great point.

I rode his bad start last season, and i'll do it again... Hopefully, with the same results

Steven, David its all the same.

Like I said, I have no intention of trading him.

Just a little concerned.

If they are going to drop him I hope they do it now rather than later. Likely to go down another $90,000 at his current rate. I'm going to hold onto him a bit longer but if things stay the way they are Goddard is looking a good option and is somewhat affordable.
