What's the storey with Joel Corey? Does he have a degenerative knee issue and can he ever regain full fitness? Should I be worried that he isn't named in the Sainters game and does anyone know how his pre-season has gone?

Please note that this is a CAT question and not a SC/DT question.

regards,

REB

From what has been documented I believe his knee is fine now. It's probably just a case of list management that he's not out on the park yet. Perhaps some of the more astute posters could provide more of an insight though

Astute poster? You rang? :D

On a more serious note, my news ( though some weeks old now ) is that Corey is as fit as a fiddle, running times as well as he ever has, and over the problem he had last year.

Expecting a rejuvenated Smithy this year picking up his usual 25 disposals. Will make a difference!

Its Feb. Time for the babys to show their stuff

Yeah I know that Turbs it's just Cat fans of my vintage tend to be a glass empty breed. :o

Thanks for the info guys and good news it is too because Corey is one my favourite players. I just hate the way certain bozos in the media have tried to write him off prematurely over the last couple of seasons.

Spot on.

Think we'll see Smithy make a few people look silly by the end of 2011.

Sorry Copernicus but I had to bring it closer to home.

Not sure what Vintage your associate yourself with but as far a half empty goes I'm certainly that way inclined. His knee may or may not be good but look at this weeks game , 2/3 of the side are hungry young turks just itching for their chance at the big time. Joel has nothing to prove bar his fitness , if he is ready , truly ready, to play R1 against the Saints next time , i'll be super happy.

Just turned 29 so its what you would expect them to do with him so far .
Going to be a big year for number 11 .

He is two years younger than Lenny Hayes, so no reason why he could not still play a huge role. I am a huge admirer and was disgusted by calls for his head last year.

Agree. He is still a great player. If he's not fit and can't stand up to it he doesn't play but he certainly deserves an opportunity to prove it. You can talk til you're blue about legspeed, zones etc but at the end of the day you still need that bloke who is at the bottom of the pack in a stoppage. Joel is this bloke

With Maxy gone, I'll get down on my knees and hold up my candle to Smithy now. Expect gradual, spontaneous, wonderous feats of football over the season to remind one and all that the guy is a friggin' legend of the hoops. His laconic, 5-step punts to goal from 50-out are as beautiful as discovering the neighbor's tan-lines on a swarthy, summer evening.

Looking forward to hearing more from you James! Lovely turn of phrase.

Unless you live in a retirement village.
