On a night when the result for me meant SWEET F A

Was very pleased with his game pity he was not able to stay up forward the whole game though but looks ok.

Hi guys.

I thought that Griffin did well tonight. Displayed some deft touch at the ruck stoppages that they have raved about.

I agree. I was very pleased with his overall effort for a first-upper against quality opposition. :thumbsu: Some pretty good taps at times.

Just one thing though re the AFL stats. According to them Griffin only got 2 taps for the night, the same number as pint-sized Richard Douglas.

It certainly engenders very little faith in the accuracy of their stats. :thumbsd:

Spot on Macca - I saw quite a few more taps that he won than just the two.

The stats as quoted on AA also state that Edwards didn't get a touch in the last quarter and yet I could have sworn that he did!

You would have seen the handball in the last quarter that he shot out to Bock for him to run into an open goal. That's one at least. :thumbsu:

yeah that one was quite nice and I reckon there was a kick on the wing as well.

To be honest I thought he got pretty easily outplayed when in the ruck. Port seemed to get their run on when Griffin was moved into the middle. A couple of nice marks under pressure though. Hes always been talked about as a supremely skilled footballer...just the whole weight or lack thereof has been the issue. He still looks quite thin but hes got some nice skills.

Understandably so Macca, considering he was up against the best ruck duo in the comp including an AA ruckman. Still gave a pretty good effort though IMO.

It would have been erections all round if he had beaten them!! :p

I don't think there is any argument there....

Lade and Bogan v Griff is not a contest.

Most of the comments here are about the fact that maybe he has gone past Liam and Eeeevarn as our second option...

Context would suggest we're just pleased he showed a fair bit tonight

Without a doubt you have a lot to smile over with him. I think you might be right that he may have jumped the ladder so to speak as well.

Griffen performance was the most encouraging aspect of tonights game. Appears to have a good motor on him, as would have played most of the game. Good set of hands & good skills for someone 2m+.

If anything, when he went into ruck, we missed his presence up forward.

If the injury to Meesen hadn't of happened I think the end result may have been vastly different but it also provided a challenge for Griff to really step up and help out Huddo and I think he did that quite well. Still some rough edges to him but a lot of promise that I finally saw after all the talk out of the club about his upside.

Very impressed with him and I still can't believe that there were people who called for him to be delisted at the end of last year.

Showed a little bit up forward but what impressed me more was his ruckwork at centerbounces! He got some really nice taps going down the throat of his team mates. Understandably he was less effective in other ruck contests where he has to wrestle with his opponent but I think he showed enough tonight to suggest there is plenty to look forward to when this lad fills out and gets more experience under his belt.

Excellent skills for a player of his height. Very mobile and good hands too. Will be a good player if he develops as well as the club is hoping.

EDIT: How good was that little interception? :thumbsu:

agree from a rotational POV.....but Griff is way ahead of Meese IMO

As I stated in another post he was the find of the night.

I also was impressed with McIntryre and Pfeiffer's last quarter.

The latter has some real talent. The commentator often confused him with Mattner.

Dude you had almost your A grade side out there.

I wouldnt even call our side a shadow of our A grade side

No Roo, Goody, Stiffy, Burton, McGregor, Perrie, Massie, Van Berlo.

If Port didnt get a run on in that game I would have been worried. Besides Tredrea you just about had you full side out there, so I think one of the main reasons for Port's run on had to do with the quality difference between the sides out there.
