He's pretty good IMO (admittedly a little biased, have watched him a LOT playing for the Vics). Big, heavy hitter (more firepower than Hopes), bowls slightly quicker and with more potency than Hopes. Have to stick with him IMO. An upgrade on Hopes. The Ian Harvey of 2010, but with scope for improvement.

The fact that despite his high 120's (saw a few in the mid 130's too) he was the only quick to have an economy rate of less than 6 even withstanding the onslaught by Matthews and Malinga.

Contributed handy runs down the order also.

Point the finger at some one?

How about Johnson? leading the attack and he bowls short and wide and concedes over a quarter of the opposition runs.

Or what about that other right arm poo Siddle? also conceded 51 runs from a meagre 8 overs.

While we are at it, why don't you pot the captain who did a horrible job?

Or the top order throwing there wickets away when they were seemingly set?

Glenn Mcgrath bowled mid > high 120's by the time he was finshed and he was a pretty darn good bowler, wasn't he?

I can't see it?
Bowls about high 120s...doesn't seem to do anything too marvellous with the ball.
What am I missing?

Spot on.

He looks like absolute garbage - and plays like it.

It's telling that he couldn't even make the NSW team when he was there.

Shipperd has always been excellent at getting the most out of very ordinary players at state level, but it's embarrassing when blokes like this and McGain, McDonald, McKay, Siddle, Lewis etc. get picked for Australia.

They're just cannon fodder for the world's best players.

I like him cos I've seen him a bit at Victoria and he's done very well there. I think he could be a handy player now and then for Australia but not regularly.

Johnson don't even compare him to Ian Harvey, no-where near the league of Harvs.

Apart from his wides for bouncers he was the only quick to beat the bat on a regular basis. Didnt get carted except for that one six from Malinga which was a great shot. Thought he was pretty tidy. Has only played 2 ODI's and people want him out already??

He has looked awkward with the bat thus far but in time will show how much of a hitter he can be.

He was the 2nd leading wicket taker in DODI, Sheild and leading wicket taker in big bash last year. So deserves a go in my opinion. Also averaged 25 in DDOI and 37 in Sheild with the bat (didnt do well in 20/20)

He does seem to have a custard arm though. Give him, along with others youngsters time to find their feet in the ODI format.

Never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people are on this site.
Doherty aside he was probably the only bowler that could walk off with his head held high.
Have a go at the guy who is meant to lead our attack, Johnson was pathetic, ourcaptain and "messiah" did not have a clue.
He is the least of our worries ATM

Victorian. In the time that Merv Hughes was a selector, eight Victorian bowlers made their debut. (Lewis, Harwood, Siddle, McDonald, McGain, Nannes, McKay and Hastings.)

While he performed OK, he looked thoroughly unthreatening. Never once looked like taking a wicket (except for a slow ball to Malinga which was chipped over the field, and it was figured out thereafter).

His only claim is to not have been beaten as badly as the other bowlers, but at least Siddle and Johnson took a wicket each. He toiled away, he wasn't the reason we lost, but he just didn't look up to the level.

People are angry at Johnson and Siddle because they bowled such shit areas, and if they'd put it on the spot then they might have had some success. Hastings bowled intelligently, he just didn't achieve anything.

Really didn't impress me. While he may had an alright economy, not once did he look like taking a wicket. Whenever he gets it wrong, the ball will go out of the stadium, such a fine line with bowlers of his pace. I'd much rather play Mckay next match, as he has at least looked half threatening for us in the one day arena. However, I'd much rather see guys like Swan, Rimmington, Copeland, Tait (when not injured) etc. get a go, before either Mckay or Hastings.

because its all about pace right?

he does very well for victoria and his record is very good since selection.

Very good? Please explain. Many do well for their states, doesn't mean they should be playing for Australia.

you have to do well at one level to get selection for another.

unless you can say leap frog from district cricket to national colours aye?

He is an average bowler that bowls a decent slower ball. He is a big bloke and with his power can hit a long ball. Considering he is not the best batsman he will never face enough deliveries in the 20/50 over format to make an impression so saying he is an all-rounder is far fetched.

In AFL terms, he is a gop.

How fast do you think Rimmington bowls?

Stop gap bowler. If you're trundling in the mid 120's you better move the ball significantly (see Bracken)

He doesn't

Good state cricketer but can't see much future for him in green and gold

He is in the team as an alleged all rounder ie a replacement for Hopes. Not as a specialist bowler. Well I hope not as a specialist. :o
