In light of Judd quitting has anyone else found it interesting, that what many of us consider to be a fait accompli, John Meesen wanting to go home has not been announced publicly yet, particularly considering our season has been over for a week and a half now and Trade season is rapidly approaching.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the longer this announcment is pushed back the less likely it is to occur? As in possibly all hope has not yet been lost?

The irony is, I think, most of us have been preparing for Meesen to leave so much to the extent that we now WANT him to leave so we can get something decent in return.

Don't think it will be a factor, as I can't see us getting what we originally used to pick Meesen up. He hasn't added to his value this year and is unlikely to attract a pick in the first round. Best we can hope for is an early second round pick or a player swap.

Who cares, I hope Meesen gets delisted, traded or whatever. Sick of him to be honest. Useless as **** on a bull.

Bye Meese.

Fair point. You'd think that if he wanted out, we would have heard by now.

That's what I'm thinking, traditionally these announcments come the week after the teams knocked out. But the fact that no announcement has been forthcoming has perked my interest up a bit.

EWould think his manager would want some guarantees of a new potential home b4 he ops out of Adelaide.

Maybe not getting the interest in him he thought

Yep, I have been thinking the same thing. When a player wants out he usually makes the announcement as soon as his commitments are over.

There have been plenty who have bagged Meeson, but I think with time he will develop into a better player than either Griffen or Maric. But having said that none of them have had a significant impact to date.

yep i think it may be just cause of this:

Hudson quits Crows

RUCKMAN Ben Hudson has quit the Crows after his contract talks broke down last week as Adelaide labelled his demands as excessive.

Hudson, 29 next year, has asked to be traded to the Western Bulldogs.

Hudson, who was plucked from VFL obscurity by Adelaide in the 2003 draft, demanded a three-year contract worth more than $1 million.

Adelaide offered a two-year deal with a lower annual pay scale.

Despite 55-game Hudson drawing controversy to himself late this season - when he was suspended from the August 12 clash with Geelong for breaking a team curfew - the exit from the Crows is based purely on the terms and value of his new contract at West Lakes.

However, there is also speculation Hudson lost interest in Adelaide after coach Neil Craig gave him a scathing assessment of his form at the start of August after a poor performance against Essendon at the Telstra Dome. This was shortly before he broke the curfew.

Adelaide football operations manager John Reid last night confirmed Hudson and the Crows were left at odds on Friday.

"Negotiations with Ben on a new contract have broken down," said Reid.

"As a result, his management has advised us that the Western Bulldogs are keen on Ben.

"We regard Ben as a required player. We are waiting to hear just where the Bulldogs stand on this."

It is uncertain if the Bulldogs are planning a package of players - such as South Australians Jordan McMahon and Stephen Tiller - or draft picks for Adelaide.

Hudson's exit has left a sour taste at Adelaide. The Crows are questioning Hudson's appreciation for their taking him from VFL club Werribee as a 25-year-old as the No. 58 pick in the 2003 national draft after an AFL opportunity seemed to have passed him.

Also, Adelaide stood by Hudson as he recuperated from major knee surgery in 2006.

Hudson played 22 of a possible 23 matches this season, carrying Adelaide's rucks as Rhett Biglands was sidelined by a major knee injury from last year's preliminary final against West Coast.

Hudson's departure dramatically leaves Adelaide vulnerable in the ruck division. It has the recuperating 30-year-old Biglands and 21-year-old rookie ruckman John Meesen, drafted from Victoria two years ago, out of contract and set for a raid from Carlton.

Adelaide's other ruck options are novices Ivan Maric and Jonathon Griffin, both aged 21.

Hudson's exit will increase Adelaide's need to accept a deal with Brisbane for West Adelaide-drafted ruckman Cameron Wood.

Hudson is the second Adelaide player to ask to be traded out of West Lakes. He follows key forward Ken McGregor who is seeking to find greater opportunities with the prospect of being signed by any of Fremantle, Richmond and the Bulldogs.

Hudson's VFL club, Werribee, is aligned to the Bulldogs.

Western Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade also needs a ruckman - more so than a key forward such as McGregor - to cover the absence by retirement of Luke Darcy.

big news if it happens. I would be wanting more than mcmahon (who is useless imo). Pick5 or bugger off imo:thumbsu:

haha John Meesen is going to be a star, I'd have his number on my jumper if I could remember it. Obviously not announcing his departure because of the new opportunity, im sure he loves adelaide and doesnt want to leave. or something... maybe.

I'm actually glad in a way that Hudson is going, cos i have always like meesen and now is his best ever chance to stay and make his mark. All the sudden next year looks really interesting with 4 really young but all promising ruckmen on our list. This is sure to get the best out of them all. Might even be a good thing in the long-run. Come on Meese!!

Good pick 5 for Huddo and play three young ruckman

Pick under 20 for McGregor, lets rebuild next year give the youngsters a go ready for a full on assault in 09

Mind you our rebuild is win 10 games and just miss the 8, not tank 4 years straight for the number one pick;)

IF Huddo goes, Biglands is likely to be the senior ruckmen with Griffin and Maric as back up. So where does that leave Meesen??

Same as where he is this year, although perhaps slightly better - as Biglands isn't exactly the greatest ruckman on the planet, especially coming off a knee-reco.
A strong PS followed by some good SANFL form and he'd find his way past Biglands easy. After that it depends on what we want to do with Griff - forward or ruck?
